Though I’ve been doing my best to include more horror content into my Pop Culture, Film and Television narratives – I have to admit that I never, ever expected to learn about a horror-themed take on the classic 70’s television series “Fantasy Island”. The release is a Blumhouse production and will come out next year care of Sony Pictures and the first trailer was released only a few short days ago. Let’s take a look. I’ve followed said trailer with the premise, casting and some poster art.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: I tuned in regularly to the original “Fantasy Island” series and loved so many episodes of it. Ricardo Montalban as Mr. Rourke and Herve Villechais as Tattoo were memorable characters for sure. Thinking back on the series, I guess one can say that what if this or that scenario was not what it seemed to be and there were moments where that would be a great horror segment if they went that way. Mostly, the show taught its visitors lessons about their lives at the end of the day and I guess this creepier version is looking to do the same with a far more insidious angle. I liked what I saw here but with this opening on Valentines’s Day I will very likely be tied up getting things in line for the annual Toy Fair which happens shortly afterwards. I actually still need to apply for that but like doing so at the very beginning of the year. What do you readers think about this trailer and the idea of “Fantasy Island” becoming a horror movie? Chime in down below in the comments section. I will see you next time.
