Since 2016, the PiercingMetal website has been attending the Toy Insider’s annual “Sweet Suite” event which for the last two years had moved into the virtual space based on the COVID-19 Pandemic. Those events were interesting but now with the world getting more pace with what amounted to “normal” once again, they would be returning to an in-person “Sweet Suite” and it would be back right where we last left it at the Chelsea Piers.

For the last few go rounds, I’ve not only been adding some of this adventuring here on PiercingMetal but also on that fun-filled lifestyle website you’ve heard me talking about – “The Chronicles of Piercing Ken”. It’s been better for the younger skew things but this post covers our main adult collector stuff and I shall begin with Bandai Namco.

Bandai Namco was really pushing their “Dragonball Z” action figures and then the Anime Heroes line. I’ve said before that I am a slow learner on Anime stuff but I love the audience it brings in for sure. They also had some new Tamagotchi creations with them. At present my favorite things coming from this side of the Bandai Namco fence are the Gundam action figures. I have a few and am hoping to get some more but that was not being presented today.

I didn’t take too many photos of the products in the Bendems line of things that were brought to the “Sweet Suite” but loved the Miraculous Ladybug one and would add to my collection if I had the chance.

The Bendyfigs products come to us care of The Noble Collection and they are awesome. They have a whole lot of DC Superheroes along with quite a few of the Universal Monsters, “Star Trek” and “Lord Of The Rings”. There aren’t any Marvel Comics figures to speak of but believe me you have enough to choose from already. They even come with their own little stand which makes display very easy. Very good detail to this batch of collectibles and stuff that will pop when you place them on your display shelf if you are someone that keeps such a thing.

This might be the “new” Batman from the recent film but I do want him. Yes I lean classic Neal Adams/Marshall Rogers looking Batman but this is rather cool as well.

The folks from Hasbro had an awesome setup at the “Sweet Suite” but this time around only had one of their Transformers line with them that would appease our readership. This version of Optimus Prime was a little different than the one I had growing up but its still cool. I’ll likely get him when he is on the racks.

It’s without a doubt that McFarlane Toys has been releasing some of my very favorite action figures these days when it comes to the DC Comics stuff. Marvel has their Legends coming care of Hasbro and while those are favorites as well, they didn’t have a presence here today while DC Comics was on point at the McFarlane Toys booth.

As you can see displayed, there was an emphasis on the upcoming “Black Adam” movie and while I’ve always liked the villain from the SHAZAM series, I am still not sure he merits a solo film but let’s see what The Rock brings to the table. The trailers look interesting so I will catch a matinee when its released.

I like these smalled “Page Punchers” releases. Great looking miniature figure and a comic book.

McFarlane Toys became a sensation when the comic book pages of “Spawn” came to action figure life a whole bunch of years ago. I still have a few of the original action figures somewhere but not in the original packaging since you opened that stuff when you got it. Now, maybe not so much.

Though I am not a follower of the megabranding that is the Pokemon franchise, I sure do admit that their level of media power is overwhelming. There was an awesome display of these products on display at the “Sweet Suite” and I’m including them here since a lot of my comic collecting readership are very much into this.

So the Toy Insider was able to pull a few strings in the superhero community and have Spider-Man, Supergirl and Deadpool in attendance and walking around. One year they had a whole bevy of such characters but I was happier this time around to only find a select few present. Most of the kids in attendance are those “Kidfluencer” types and if they are distracted by the comic book characters, the exhibitors are not getting the attention that they crave from them. Just my two cents since I get my own fill of this kinda stuff at New York Comic Con and Anime NYC.

Alright so that is going to bring me to the end of the Toy Insider “Sweet Suite” 2022 presentations as far as it relates to the kind of things that our main demographic is hip to here on the PiercingMetal website.
