For the last four days the New York Comic Con took over the Javits Center for its 2024 happening and while it all wrapped up yesterday, I will be continuing along to share my findings from the convention for your entertainment. I’m now on Day Two but if you’re just only joining me here on the website I’ll ask you to click NYCC 2024 as that will launch a new browser tab that features every post that has already been published. I tend to follow a flowing narration so its easier for you, trust me. First up was a visual I saw when I looked down at the crosswalk. It was a promotion for the soon to be airing series “Creature Commandos”. I mentioned in the Day One observances that there is a photo op inside the convention.
Once inside through the detectors I decided to spend a few minutes in the general lobby area. I don’t always know the cosplays but am always happy to include smiling convention faces into the mix.
The 501st Legion was positioned in the Crystal Palace and had a base camp set up in the River Pavilion. They are officially sanctioned Galactic Empire cosplay organization.
Now inside the Expo Hall, I swung past our friends at the Pop Insider who had what seemed to be the busiest booth on the floor because of all their fun giveaways.
Showtime had a “Dexter Original Sin” experience at the convention. I probably should have looked more into this myself but I didn’t. Apparently one can be wrapped up like one of Dexter’s victims and get a photograph. Having just cancelled my Showtime subscription I will not be able to see this upcoming series.
Some fun cosplayers were encountered soon after like the Superman we saw the other day but in a slightly different attire and some anime characters along with Raven from the Titans.
“The Boys” is a franchise I often see being cosplayed these days and here is the Deep and Homelander, the latter of which I always call “Homeland-Her” which I coined a few iterations of the convention ago.
These three ladies were apparently aligned to a massive booth setup by MechaBreak. I will be heading over to that space at some point and sense it might be better presented as one of the special features I’d like to add to our coverage mix.
The folks from Geeks Out had a pride lounge set up for the members of their community. Geeks Out are the organizers of the Flame Con in case you were curious about that one.
Back over to the Artist Alley we see a familiar cosplayer face in the dude that always dresses as the character from DMC Comics.
Kristen Gudsnuk, creator of “Henchgirl”
Artist Chris Hamer and the Missus
The legendary Erik Larsen, creator of “Savage Dragon”.
Some of the items found at David Mack’s table. I forgot to include them when I first added his photo to the mix. Oops.
The always awesome Dirk Manning showing off “London After Midnight”. He’s quite the Metalhead as well.
There were some amazing cosplays going on in the Artist Alley and I try to snag as many as possible since ya know, content. We’ve got Captain Carter, Moon Knight, Doctor Strange, Iron Man, Scarlet Spider, Vision and Scarlet Witch.
Here’s Geof Isherwood…
Here’s Mike Lilly…
Oh wow, Constantine and Zatanna…
Here’s Bill Plympton…
These ladies represented the Comics Code Authority. I wish that shirt was in black since I lean towards those.
Here’s Barbie Chula once again and today she was in “Dead Silence” Mary Shaw cosplay. I am surprised that I remembered that having only seen the film once. When she cosplays this character, she stays in character and will not speak to you. Creepy AF for sure.
From here I decided to head up to the River Pavilion. This used to be where the Press Lounge was so I was hoping to find it and recalibrate myself for a few minutes. I’m sure that you know most of the cosplays in this last batch of images for the chapter. Quality work my friends, quality work for sure.
Let’s wrap up this installment from Day Two as I’ve reached my usual “50” images metric. Don’t worry I do have more from the second day of New York Comic Con along with the soon to arrive Day Three and Four stuff. I hope you enjoyed the proceedings so far and remember that while you wait for the next stuff to hit the website you can engage with us on our myriad of social media platforms by paying a visit to the Official PiercingMetal Linktree. I’ll be back soon enough with more. See you then.
