Hello again my fine-feathered geeks and welcome back to yet another post from the comprehensive coverage of the 2023 New York Comic Con. You’ve safely arrived at the first installment from the Day Three part of the adventure and that means its the Saturday of the event. Historically speaking, this is one of the most crowded days of the whole affair but that never manages to slow me down. As I’ve mentioned in each of the preceding first chapters of the days, this is my 13th straight year of attendance in an official capacity as media and while its exhausting to do this much running around I still love it. Now I should mention that I am not running around in a cosplay of any kind and instead am sporting a different Metal or comic book shirt across the days. Today I’m sporting a cool “Star Wars” comic book cover shirt that I got from Walmart when I visited the folks over the summer. I wore a KISS shirt yesterday since as many know who read my posts they are my absolute favorite. So before I begin, let me first remind you to make sure that you click HERE to open up all of the previous posts in a brand-new window. With this kind of event, I feel its better to start from the beginning. When I walked in today I was greeted by Darth Vader and a couple of troopers who were doing some outreach for the 501st Legion. I’d look into this but I sadly feel I’m a little short for a Stormtrooper. IYKYK 😉
Just loved these two Spider-verse cosplays of Spider-Man Noir and Spider-Punk. Very well done gentlemen.
Now I’ve also mentioned my doing quick arrival briefs for the video feeds and here is the YouTube Short from when I got to the convention.
The Wendy’s mascot was handing out little treat bags to the little ones. Inside were some coupons and a trinket.
I’m obviously not going to chime in about every single cosplayer you’ll be seeing here since I want to test your own knowledge but down the line you’ll find a Spider-Man 2099, a Xena Warrior Princess, Supergirl, Spider-Gwen and more.
She don’t need another hero, she don’t need to know the way home, I don’t know the rest before “Thunderdome”. Yeah its a Tina Turner cosplayer in the outfit from the film. Nice work.
We see this cat at the convention every year and he is always spotlighting the stuff from DMC Comics, that’s the company that Darryl McDaniels of Run DMC runs and I love it. This time he is Mandalorian themed and also posed with the great Keith Williams.
I ran into writer Kayden Phoenix once again and got caught up with her latest creation “The Majestics”. These next few images will serve as a mini-spotlight on the work. A short interview will be presented on the YouTube Channel as well for good measure.
This was really one of the most clever of cosplays that I ran into. Leonardo as Leonardo da Vinci with Mona Lisa. Well done.
Here’s a limited release pin.
Now onto the stuff I saw from Figpin. I love this company and mentioned owning a set of KISS and a David Bowie. They were very hard to photograph though based on the lighting in the expo hall.
This Swarovski Crystal Batman was a few hundred thousand dollars. It was beautiful but definitely for a certain collector and to be kept in a place where it cannot be touched.
Here’s our friends from “Goosebumps The Musical”, we met them at the BroadwayCon a couple of years ago.
The Ghostboy Company.
Some posters from Hero Tomorrow Comics. I featured them in an earlier installment. Nice stuff but I still need to sink my teeth into their issues. I’ll try to get on some kind of media servicing list and see if they want overviews.
This was a very unique Spider-verse character that I cannot remember the name of. Is there a roaring 20’s Spider-woman?
Barbie meets Batgirl for a superb mashup cosplay.
A great Tardis gown on this NYCC Attendee.
Warlock from the New Mutants was wandering around in the artist alley and I had to stop him for a photo. This would be a fun character to see in the films since Marvel now owns their X-Men rights once again. Only time will tell.
Okay so let me stop here and give you all a chance to breathe. Trust me I need a little rest myself during the Saturday event day. Don’t worry as there is still more to come and I think two more installments for D3 unless I am mistaken. Don’t forget to rally behind the PiercingMetal social media because as I’ve said time and time again, if you are looking to keep this brand vital we need your participation and support on them all. You can find the outlet on our networks of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and TikTok. These spaces let me back and forth with the audience which I do love to do. Stay tuned for more, I will see you back here soon. Thanks as always for visiting.
