Well greetings and felicitations my friends in convention land, I am happy to tell you that you have made it to the penultimate installment of the day to day coverage of the 2023 New York Comic Com. The Sunday edition of the event is known as “Family Day” and what this amounts to is a whole lot more little ones on the show floor and in the Artist Alley. For the last few years, the organizers of New York Comic Con have been permitting children up to a certain age to join their parents or guardians for free and while its always awesome to see the smiles of the younger generation of geeks, one must definitely watch their footing from the insane amount of strollers in the aisles. I’m stoked that the younger set comes into the event but I do feel that there is a certain age that they should begin this adventure because otherwise it just might be too much for them. Not that I have kids to worry about bringing along, but I don’t think one is doing any good by bringing an infant to the happening but again maybe that is just me. So how do we begin this installment? We begin like always by suggesting that you first click HERE to bring up a new browser tab with all of the posts that led up to this one. Trust me it makes it more fun to read and to follow along with. Now I will begin with my YouTube Short video of my arrival on Day Four. Let’s get into the mix
My first cosplayers of the convention today were more ready for an Anime event but that’s fine by me. There is such a mix of the conventional superheroes normally found at a comic convention and the Anime events these days.
I’ve never seen a Chucky Flash Mob before but here they were. All dressed in their doll finest and looking scary. They were promoting the upcoming show on SyFy I think.
I’m not going to be talking up every single Cosplayer but this Ballerina Spider-Woman was interesting and dare I say “pretty in pink” as well? Okay that was terrible. Sorry but its the last day and I am really tired.
Had to love this Ken and Deadpool mashup cosplay ala “Kenpool” and the Elle Woods from “Legally Blonde”.
Some more books from Sumerian Comics. Like I mentioned in an earlier post, I am definitely interested in talking about some of them. “Heavy Metal Drummer” really picques my interest. I wonder why.
Everytime I meet Spider-Man and Spider-verse cosplayers they jump into the pose and I am not always ready for that. I enjoyed chatting with Silk and Spidey who you will see down below. Apparently Silk is also a local musician so let’s see if she reaches out for some media attention at an upcoming gig.
While I don’t know a whole lot about the “Cyanide and Happiness” stuff I do just love the characters look.
In one section of the Alex Ross Gallery display area, the legendary Bill Sinkiewicz was doing a signing. I couldn’t get all of the works in but managed to snap him and a bunch of art while he met with interested fans.
These are two new Image Comics titles, and I snapped these at a smaller booth where creatives were making appearances. There didn’t seem to be a massive Image Comics pavilion this year. That was a shame for me since I wanted to look for a couple of collected editions.
These two young ladies impressed me with their cosplay of the “Monster High” characters. They are Draculaura and Frankie Stein. Please don’t be impressed, they had to tell me who they were so I wrote it down. Nice work girls 🙂
It’s Alan Robert of IDW Publishing’s own “The Beauty Of Horror” and of course the bass-slinging musician in Life Of Agony.
Yes my friends, Taylor Swift now also has a Golden Book.
Our friends at the very busy Japan Wave booth.
While wandering in the area formerly known as “The Block” I encounted this group and most of them were first-time NYCC’ers so that made me need to snap them and welcome them to all the fun.
Another shot of Claudio Sanchez since we were in the vicinity. On Day Four I tend to blitz all of the locations I did already for good measure. Maybe next time I will get an interview with this awesome musician.
Oh no it’s Chainsaw Woman!!!
A cool Black Widow. She was even sporting a SHIELD logo.
Over at Sumerian Comics they had some special edition vinyls for sale like this Bad Omens album.
Okay so let’s call that a chapter and take a pause because tomorrow will be the very last in the day to day overviews from the New York Comic Con. Of course that doesn’t mean I am actually done since I have some spotlight posts to share with you and then I think I will serve up those artist interviews that I did into segments. Of course I still have to format all of the clips and then get them scheduled to premiere so ther might be a slight breather in this kind of content. One thing you can do while you wait for the next exciting and final day to day chapter is hit up the Social Media for PiercingMetal on the following networks of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and TikTok. Following these profiles helps to raise the numbers higher which is always beneficial because social media is a numbers game and sites like this are often gauged against one another based on numbers alone and that’s no fun. That being said, thanks for coming by as always. We love sharing adventures like this one with you.
