Hello my friends and welcome back to PiercingMetal’s in-depth exploration of the 2021 New York Comic Con. You’ve arrived at the second part of our Day One exploring and to see all the related posts that preceded this just click HERE to launch in a new browser tab. I’ll be chiming in across the images when needed so let’s get moving.
While walking around The Block area I decided to talk to some of the independent publishers and here are D. E. Night and McLain McGuire. I felt it would be a fun inclusion to do some one on one chats with creators like them and shot two videos for the YouTube Channel. Those take a little bit to compile properly but they were fun to do.
There was also a small group of creators who had interesting and very limited production statues. This is the kind of stuff that was more commonly seen at the Five Points Fest but that didn’t happen since 2019 since its usual time of the year was struck by the pandemic.
The folks from Funimation were there with a truck loaded with goodies for participants and a few other interesting items. There was a photo op space that I didn’t capture here since too many people were on it and I wanted to get a solo shot.
The folks from Tokidoki braved the event and it was nice to see them with a long line into their booth.
Here’s writer Fabian Nicieza the co-creator of Deadpool and many other awesome characters.
The great Dan Parent of Archie Comics fame.
Diamond Select Toys had their usual display on point and it was great to see them as vendors like Mezco Toyz were not here and neither was Funko.
Yeah I really want this action figure of The Watcher.
Godzilla was running around near the Topps pavilion because they were doing a special NFT trading card set for him. Each day the attendees could check in to get a free digital card. I signed in of course and will do so for the remaining days to have something special to discuss post convention.
Another interesting attraction was this truck with “Chucky” stuff painted on it and a destroyed fence. The line was rather long so I didn’t look into it. Truth be told, the whole “Child’s Play” horror franchise was never one I got into. I was more of a “Friday The 13th” and “Halloween” sort of guy.
The folks at Stranger Comics had a wonderful booth so I decided to include them in my video features. As I said earlier in this post, these will be collected and served up a bit later.
That’s going to bring me to the end of the second installment and I hope you’ve enjoyed the ride so far. The newbies among you might not know that I try to keep these posts to no more than “50” images to keep it easier to navigate and present the talented people we met down in the links. I will be back with more from Day One tomorrow so stay tuned for that. Don’t forget to follow PiercingMetal on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube so you don’t miss a second of the fun.
