Today is the “Free Comic Book Day” for 2017 and there are a whole lot of awesome titles to secure for absolutely nothing. I hit my neighborhood shop Galaxy Comics in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn a short time ago and rushed back to showcase images of what is out there and that you should still be able to find providing you act fast. Here we go.
As we go through the stuff that I observed at today’s FCBD, I figured I would speak up on a few of them as the visuals go by but I will admit that I didn’t know every single title that was available today. This wouldn’t be a problem with the two offerings by Marvel and their “Guardians” title and the “Secret Empire” one. Each of these has a second story for fans to enjoy. Never a bad thing.
Not only is the excitement rising for “GOTG” since their film opened yesterday but also for “Wonder Woman” whose feature comes early next month. This Valiant Comics offering gives two tales which appears to be a common thread on this years FCBD
Readers can never go wrong with a free title featuring “The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” and while I don’t know much about the “I Hate Image Comics” it looks like a fun read.
No you are not seeing double, oh wait, you actually are in this case. The shot came out like this based on the placement of the “Rick and Morty” FCBD title based on the placement of the comics on the shelves.
I get a big kick out of “The Tick” and hope that we see a new live action show featuring the character. I loved the show that Patrick Warburton did and wouldn’t mind seeing him return.
I was happy to see these two properties sitting proudly side by side on the shelves. “Miraculous” is rather new and super popular with the younger set. I have a very young cousin who cannot get enough of her and then there is “Underdog” which was a hero that I grew up with and watched religiously when I was a wee lad.
“Barbie” has her own book for FCBD but nothing related to “Ken” at all which sort of disappointed me. The next couple are “Archie” related but more towards the teen drama that is on the live television show than the classic comics characters. The show is rather interesting if you have not yet watched it.
PiercingMetal Thoughts: I just love “Free Comic Book Day” since there are also a whole lot of sales going on with the rest of the merchandise that the retailers have on hand. It’s great to show support and in some sense appreciation for the FCBD stuff by putting some cash across the counter as well so make sure you do that. Perhaps you saw some titles you missed during the last visit or maybe you even need supplies like comic bags and boards. There were so many cool offerings this year and I wonder if you readers could guess which ones I snagged for myself. What items interest you the most and how hard will you be hunting for them if there are more than one comic store in your region. I recommend even the non collectors pay a visit during this time since it lets you have presents for the younger reader in your world. That’s never a bad thing at all, so what are you waiting for? Get a move on before you miss out on the best stuff. You still have a good amount of time.

Man, that is a ton of comics! I got a bag for with random from Forbidden Planet. Not all of them were in there but still a good chunk. I’ve loved free comic book day from the first time they ever did it, which I actually fondly remember.
