Hey Friends, I am back with the second installment from the recent Big Apple Comic Con that was held only a few days ago at the New Yorker Hotel. As I’ve already mentioned, the convention now seems to be a one-day affair and has locked in the late fall and winter season as a “Christmas Con” of sorts. Let’s continue along with the awesome artist John Holmstrom from Punk Magazine and much more.
These lovely ladies are models and were showcasing the images that will be in a very sexy calendar. I’ve shared some of the visuals from it since they said that I could.
When I was a diehard collector, many of the comic book shops had a “mature” section which was usually loaded with the NSFW issues like “Omaha The Cat Dancer” and “Cherry Poptart”. This year’s BACC had the legendary Larry Welz in attendance and it was awesome to meet him and the missus.
It’s always great to see Dean Haspiel and learn what he is working on.
The BACC had some actors in attendance like Cynda Williams from “Mo Better Blues” and Lisa Rodriguez from “Next Friday”. They had posters to purchase and be signed for fans of those films.
Voice actor Tony Daniels is a lot of fun. He not only voiced Gambit on the “X-Men” cartoon but he also did Tony The Tiger.
Nik Virella was cool to meet for the very first time and check this out, she is a fan of the mighty Sabaton. She even gifted me this “Camouflage” Official Magazine.
Writer Aaron Reynolds was a lot of fun to talk to about his “Effin’ Birds” series of works. I just loved the absurdity of it all.
It’s always nice to see artist Kristen Gudsnuk at the cons. I believe that I actually first met her here some years ago.
Two absolute legends in comic book illustration are up next with Joe Staton and Ken Landgraf.
Writer Amanda Madison was excited to tell all attendees about a new series she was working on. “Program 38: Sparks” is the first of three books.
The great Bob Camp and the missus. Bob you will know from “Ren and Stimpy”.
Here’s Sean Chen.
Here’s Sean Chen with Ming Chen. No relation though.
The Indy Speedway Gang.
Another legend is Mr. Howard Chaykin.
Writer DaiQuan Cain was not only showing off a new book he had written with “The Silent Descendents” but it was also his first time tabling.
The one and only Bill Plympton
Another new face for us and also for the BACC it would seem is artist Philip Gerba who had some fun works and a positive perspective that I liked.
We are always very happy to see our longtime friend in comics, Mr. Keith Williams. His table is always a highlight for many attendees.
Here’s another look at those calendar photos and I am sorry that its at the end. It was on the mobile and I didn’t see it until I was ready to post. I wish the girls well with their calendar.
That’s going to wrap up the general overview from the 2024 edition of the Big Apple Comic Con. It’s going to be my final convention of the year based on my learning that there will be NO Winter Con at Resorts World Casino this year. My personal schedule has found me missing that one but I could have done it this time but alas there is not one on the venues agenda. All that being said, while the walk-through presentation from Big Apple Comic Con is done, I am not yet finished with content from the convention. I will have a number of interviews premiering on the Official YouTube Channel for PiercingMetal and they are scheduled to premiere after all of my New York Comic Con videos. Hope that you enjoyed this one and that you might consider attending the convention next time around. Thanks for reading. Remember to follow along with PiercingMetal on our numerous Social Media Platforms by referring to our Official Linktree.
