Satyricon Announces “Final” US Tour

Yesterday was a weird day of Metal News as we not only learned of this decision by Satyricon but also that Slayer was planning on one last Thrashing for their fans. Check out the Satyricon low down and where they will be stopping for their Final US Go…..

The Press Release:
We are excited to announce that we will be touring in the US and Canada. As our U.S fans will have noticed, we haven’t toured there in nine years. There are many reasons for that. I like America and I like Americans, but unfortunately touring there has been a difficult chapter in the history of Satyricon. I can’t guarantee what the future holds, but we did not go on the last record, so I am hoping that one final headlining tour can be a good way of sharing some electric musical moments with our U.S fans, whom we love just as much as all our other fans across the world. See you all soon. – SW

PiercingMetal Thoughts: The funny thing for me personally as a Metal fan was that I was just thinking about Satyricon the other say and wondered when and if we would ever see them on these shores again. Considering that I’ve met a number of promoters and venue managers over the years, I know that it’s a rough go sometimes for bands when they come over here or make plans to and find themselves shut out for one reason or another. Sometimes its lack of ticket sales, or Visa issues at the eleventh hour – its always something so I can understand where Satyr is coming from but I don’t think I would laud this as the last ever go round in a region where so many fans find their music to their liking. He’s been fortunate enough to come here a few times while other bands have yet to do that despite being together for decades but I digress. I’m going to mark this one down on our regional calendar and really hope to be a part of it. I’m happy that the band Inquisition is providing support as they always manage to deliver on the stage. Let’s hope that is it with no local bands. It’s been a weird day in music as the Metal Community is still reeling from the recently announced Slayer “Farewell Tour” and let’s not forget that Ozzy Osbourne is calling it a career as well this year. While this isn’t a retirement tour by Satyricon, he will risk losing some fans who will likely tire of anticipating a return that will never come and move on to other bands that pay more regular visits. Am I wrong on some of these views? I’d love to hear you own opinion on his decision and this tour. You know where to put those. See you next time.
