“There is a fifth dimension, beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man’s fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call The Twilight Zone.”.
Greetings my fine readers of the PiercingMetal initiative and welcome back to the website once again as we steadily head towards the end of 2024. So if you’ve been following the site for a few years you were probably expecting or hoping for this article as its become a bit of a tradition by now as this post is the sixth go-round of the topic at hand. I’m talking about the absolutely legendary anthology series known as “The Twilight Zone”. The show first aired in 1959 and ran for five seasons with a total of 156 episodes that have remained as timeless and enthralling as they did some 65 years ago. Back in 2020, I decided to begin sharing the annual marathon that the folks over at the Syfy network do around this time. It’s a lengthy marathon that begins before and runs into the brand-new year and the Science Fiction and Mystery fans cannot get enough of it. Truth be told, back in 2020 it was better to be inside but I felt like continuing with this since its good Google traction and the show has remained one of my very favorites of all time. I’ve pointed out that many in my friendship circle don’t even go all out for New Year’s Eve anymore and I don’t mind that myself and would rather watch the ball drop on the television, field a few dozen text messages and then tune into some classic programming. This year’s marathon will begin in the early morning hours of the New Year’s Eve Day and run into the pre-dawn hours of January 2nd. All of the episodes appear to be from the original series with the exception of season #4 as no episodes appear to be from that one in the marathon. The marathon also seems to be a number of episodes shorter and runs for “113” as opposed to last year’s “142”. As a NYC resident that uses Spectrum as their cable provider, I culled the listings from their own Channel Guide and present it all down below for your consumption. If there are any last minute changes, don’t give me a hard time as once I cobbled together the post it went up online as is. You can send the network an email about it or complain on their social media channels. I still think that “113” episodes is a pretty beefy marathon so let’s take a look shall we?

*** end of rundown ***
PiercingMetal Thoughts: So there you have it, all “113” episodes of this year’s “The Twilight Zone” marathon. One has to wonder why they made this one a shorter television event but as I pointed out in the other section, “113” episodes is nothing to sneeze at. A whole lot of my favorites appear to be included and I will admit that I didn’t mind the excluding of the other incarnations of the show. I think one of these days they should offer a marathon of those incarnations provided that they leave this one alone. What do you think about that. So this year I’ve decided to record each and every episode so I can enjoy some binge watching. This was especially necessary since I doubt I will be up far past midnight when the ball drops and there is no way I would be channel surfing at 3AM when it all begins. I wasn’t going to do this but since I am recording less shows on the DVR of late I do have the room for them to do it this year. I don’t know if I will do the in order of airing viewing that I did once before but who knows. Either way I am once again excited to enjoy this very classic and influential show. Now for a little shameless plug. I will also be listing the rundown of “The Honeymooners” marathon that airs each year on PIX 11 once again but that post will be loaded up over on “The Chronicles of Piercing Ken” website.
As I wrap this one up, I want to wish you and yours the very best in the event that this is the day that you find yourself signing off on websites and social media to enjoy some hopefully quality time. I wish you all a very fun but safe New Year’s Eve celebration. If you keep it small and contained to only a few core friends, that’s fine as well. I’ve not done the big revelry stuff for years now. A lot of people view NYE as an amateur night and too much chaos can happen if too much celebrating is going on. Please be sure to chime in down below in the comments to let me know a few of your own very favorite episodes of “The Twilight Zone” because I’d love to know. See you next time around, the countdown to 2025 will be here before you know it so do stay safe out there.

I love this show. I’ve watched it with my children and it provides valuable life lessons. The messages against violence, greed and prejudice are great. It also can have scary / sad unexpected endings (which all my favorites have).
“Ring a ding girl”- it’s all our favorite episode. Sad, but very touching
“The After Hours” – my kids loved this one
Some of my other favorites are dark, but the messages are still very important
“The Silence” – dangers of extreme gambling
“A stop at Willouby” – dangers of extreme work pressure
“The Passerby” – very early predecessor to the 6th sense. Such a great story.
“A nice place to visit” – the best ending of any episode. This felt like Alfred Hitchcock!
Thank you for posting this time list and I will make sure to watch / DVR as much as I can.
As I pointed out, its amazing how relevant and topical this show has remained. If you started programming the episodes when I posted you should have them all at hand to enjoy. Cheers.
I agree. It has amazing messages but in a very different way, especially for its time.
My Dad & I watched the marathon almost every year together. He just passed away 3 weeks ago. Grief is never easily recovered from. But they touch on it in the show.
He used to watch it as a kid when it wasn’t a rerun & he’d watch by himself. Tonight I’m watching by myself; no, I know my Dad is sitting right next to me watching them all. He loved twilight zone & star trek. So I’m waiting for the Shatner ones!
So sorry for your loss, its good that you will continue the viewing tradition with him in mind. Try to have a Happy New Year and remember the good times 🙂
I love the Twilight Zone and I watch it every need years and 4th of July.
I have lived in & around Binghamton, NY for most of my 64 years, & of course have LOVED Twilight Zone & Rod Serling since the show came out. My favorites are: Willoughby, Talking Tina, & Living Dolls. Thanks for the run down of episodes and times during my favorite marathon!
You’re most welcome. It’s fun to put this one together albeit a bit lengthy. Thanks for chiming in.
Bummed the “He’s Alive” with Dennis Hopper isn’t on the list this year. Pleased to see “The Encounter”. Thanks for putting this together. Are the times in PST?
Oh that is a bummer but I don’t remember every single episode either. As far as your question, all of my times are EST since that is where I am. Sorry for any confusion but also remember they started this marathon at 1AM on 12/31. Enjoy, I hope you can DVR the rest of it, I am always excited to share this one. Happy New Year.
To serve man, Terror at 20,000 feet and several others..I don’t really have any that I won’t watch. This is the 3rd year for me and my kids watching it.
That’s awesome. Yeah I feel the same way, as I mentioned in the post I’ve got them all recording despite having seen them all again and again. A genius level show.
I look forward to the “The Twilight Zone Marathon” every time it comes on! I thank you so much for all the episodes you have on your list!! I own all the Twilight Zones on blu-ray plus the essential Twilight Zones but there is always just something special watching them on SYFY on the New Year’s marathons!!
Some of my favourites are: To Serve Man, Little Girl Lost, Ring-a-Ding Girl, Nightmare at 20,000 Feet, Living Doll, A Thing About Machines and so many more. I’m 64 and have been watching them since I can remember. Thank you again and to all the Zoners out there!! Have the Happiest New Ever!!
Those are good favorites for sure. You’re most welcome for the list rundown, it does take a little time and I wish the network would service the media outlets with the full thing a bit earlier but oh well. I don’t own the releases myself but was debating the Blu-rays and despite that I think I will always watch. Happy New Year 🙂
I can’t list all of my favorites. There are too many of them. Most Unusual Camera is one but I didn’t see it on the list this year.
Oh I didn’t get to watch any yet and will be relaxing with that in the coming days. I remember that one, the camera took pictures of what was going to happen. As a photographer myself that is some weird kinda thing. Happy New Year and thanks for dropping in.
Happy New Year to you! Thank you for posting and listing the schedule.
