“There is a fifth dimension, beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man’s fears and the summit of his knowledge”.
So began the first season of the classic television series “The Twilight Zone” which was created by the great Rod Serling back in 1959 and tomorrow in the wee hours of the morning, the SyFy Channel will begin their annual marathon of episodes from this amazing series. I’ve pointed out that I wasn’t sure how long they’ve been doing this but it does seem like a number of years and its just the perfect bit of content to showcase in our Pop Culture section as the year wraps up and we all look towards the New Year with hopes and aspirations. Though I don’t think this applies to anyone in our readership, if you never watched this series and are a fan of incredible Science Fiction, you need to sit down and enjoy at least some of this marathon which spans all of five seasons and then some. Over the years there have been a number of relaunches and redos which I’d actually like to see featured in a marathon of their own at some point but I digress. I began this particular Film & Television Feature back in 2020 when the best place one could be was inside based on the unpredictability of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since that time the world has gotten much “better” but we do still have some ways to go IMHO so I will keep on sharing this because I am a longtime Science Fiction fan and have been watching episodes of the series whenever I chance upon them. It all still holds up and creators today need to pay mind to it. Below you will find the full rundown of the marathon which runs from New Year’s Eve Day into January 2nd and since there is a lot to program on the DVR or Cloud-based service you might use I’ve decided to post this the morning before. Let’s review.

*** end of rundown ***
PiercingMetal Thoughts: Reviewing the rundown you will see that there are something like “121” episodes in this year’s marathon and when I compared to the previous one it delivers more than a dozen additional episodes. I was also surprised to see a few episodes from the 2019 version of the franchice peppered in which I was not expecting. I’ve mentioned this once before but according to the Wikipedia research there are only “156” total shows in the original series and its pretty cool to be able to see almost all of them if you don’t own the boxed sets on DVD or Blu-ray. You can also take your time in reviewing them if you have the space to program the whole thing onto your DVR or Cloud-based service etc. I don’t think anyone is using VHS anymore and to be honest that would be a constant bit of activity as you swapped tape after tape like in olden days. I recorded the marathon for myself back in 2020 so I won’t be doing it again since I have too much on my DVR right now that I need to get through. Though I don’t plan an actual dedicated watch of this years marathon I am certain that when it begins that I will continue my practice of flipping back and forth between this and the WPIX marathon of “The Honeymooners” that begins at 11PM on New Year’s Eve. If you love that show you’ll want to head over to “The Chronicles of Piercing Ken” as well because I will be posting that marathon rundown around 9:30AM on Friday which means today. As you read this we are about forty hours why of the brand-new year and while 2022 was “better” on many fronts I still think there is a lot of repair ahead of us as 2023 awakes and gets underway. In the event this is the last post that you see from us for the year let me stress that I hope your New Year’s Eve celebration is a fun but safe one and please don’t be embarrassed about staying in or enjoying time with a few close friends. For the most part NYE is amateur night and sometimes that’s best to be avoided. Like the Santacon LOL. I look forward to entertaining you in 2023 and pushing the creative envelope with this site on a regular basis and oh yeah before I go. Please know that the rundown was culled from a number of television resources like SyFy, the Spectrum TV Guide and more so don’t get mad at me if the rundown gets changed or something else airs in the spot where an episode was listed. There doesn’t seem to be a network press release about this to refer to which would be nice. Any complaints about it all should be directed to the SyFy Channel but if you’d like to add a topical comment about “The Twilight Zone” and your favorite episodes you can sure do that down here below.
