“There is a fifth dimension, beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man’s fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call The Twilight Zone.”.
Greetings Friends of PiercingMetal and welcome back to a special offering that even I had not anticipated doing. As you know, at the close of each of the Creative Calendar years, I tend to wrap up PiercingMetal stuff with a rundown of “The Twilight Zone” marathon that airs on the Syfy Network. This is a lengthy missive based on all of the episodes that get broadcast and to make it all easier on me, I’ve been getting some of the legwork done well in advance. This time around I noticed that the Syfy Network was also offering up a marathon of episodes for the Christmas Day holiday and the day after which will be Boxing Day depending on where you call home. With this being the case I knew I had to share this rundown with you as well. Now, the newbies might not know that the show premiered in 1959 and ran for five seasons with a total of 156 episodes and all of them seem to have withstood the tests of time. Since I will also be running the longer New Year’s Eve/New Year’s Day marathon I will cut the yammering short for this one and get right into it. PiercingMetal Thoughts: So there you have it, all “40” episodes of this Christmas Day Marathon of “The Twilight Zone”. Giving this rundown a quick glance I see no less than “10” of the episodes that have remained my favorites for many years. Maybe with the New Year’s Eve rundown I will share the top ten that I can recall or maybe I will do it here. It all depends on how I feel. Now I will say that I won’t be programming any of this particular marathon on my DVR but when the New Year’s Eve one rolls around perhaps I will place those top picks into the system so I can watch them at my leisure. I think I mentioned somewhere in one of these posts that I actually don’t own the original series on DVD or Blu-ray. Nowadays I lean Blu-ray and even digital code to lessen the impact on my library shelves but I digress. I guess I can also tell you that I will have the marathon of “The Honeymooners” prepped for “The Chronicles of Piercing Ken” website in the coming days as well so please be sure to look for that if you enjoy that series.
As I wrap this one up, I want to wish you and yours a very “Merry Christmas” a little bit earlier if this is your holiday. I expect to be posting what comes to light but there are always the chances that it becomes a slow few days. Feel free to chime in with what episodes are your favorites from this particular marathon as I am planning on asking for your overall favorites with the bigger post that will follow this one. See you next time.
