I’ll preface my excitement about this new single from Finland’s The Rasmus by saying that it’s been quite some time since I’ve heard their name or even listened to their sound. I’m a fairly big fan of many bands that come out of the country and of them all I have long felt that The Rasmus was closer to being radio friendly than many others. The new single is called “Rest In Pieces” which is licensed to Better Noise from the Scandinavian based Playground Music. As I digitally gave the track a “spin” on Spotify I was happy to find some of the vibe that I remember from many years ago along with a more contemporary heaviness.

Singer Lauri walks us through the tune smoothly and when the rest of the band kicks in with some backing vocals it comes across as very catchy. Now I will stress that there are some expletives in the track which any radio folks will need to be mindful of but outside of that I felt there was a really solid and somewhat crushing groove to enjoy. I found myself pushing play a few times and my head was bopping during most of the track. I’m fairly certain this will be a good number in the live sense but lord only knows when and if we will find The Rasmus touring here in the states as it has been quite a few years since that was the case. I’ll be watching for more material from them for sure and think that fans of a more Alternative sound from Finland might enjoy them but I also feel if you enjoy HIM and The 69 Eyes that The Rasmus should be on your list.
