Randy Blythe and Alex Skolnick Introduce “Unbuilt” Magazine

Despite what some might tell you, print is NOT dead and many still enjoy the medium when it comes to books, magazines and comic books. With that being said I am taking a moment to share with you the news about a new magazine that comes care of Alex Skolnick, Randy Blythe and Tom Bejgrowicz. Check out the cover and details that I culled from its website for your indulgence.

Magazine - Unbuilt 1 - 2016

From The Official Website:
“UNBUILT is a biannual, limited edition culture and lifestyle publication debuting Issue 01 in Spring 2016. Conceived, developed, and designed by Tom Bejgrowicz, Tom partnered with fellow editors D. Randall Blythe (Vocalist, Lamb of God) and Alex Skolnick (Lead Guitarist, Testament) to bring UNBUILT to life.

Issue 01 features interviews with activist artist Sue Coe, documentary/video director Tom Berninger, author and veteran Kevin Powers, Broadway pit musicians Jake Schwartz & Mat Fieldes, architect Maddy Samaddar, and Reiner Design, the artists behind the packaging for Metallica’s …And Justice For All and Metallica (a.k.a. the “Black Album”). Further, Blythe offers up exclusives like a photographic essay on surfing culture as well as an original short story written and photographed during a trip to the Cayman Islands. Additionally, UNBUILT’s “Exhibition Space” centerfold spread will spotlight a different artist in each issue with Pittsburgh’s Mike Egan gracing the inaugural edition.

It’s worth noting that $1 from every sale of UNBUILT will go to help those in need around the world. Humane Society International and the International Committee of the Red Cross will each receive 50¢ from every issue sold.

32 pages, 9″ x 11.5″, self-published and ad-free, UNBUILT is limited to only 1,250 copies and ships worldwide on April 26, 2016!”

PiercingMetal Thoughts: I’m always behind talented individuals who seek to broaden their creativity and wish them all the best in this endeavor. As you can see this is not a “Metal” magazine of any kind and instead one that expands upon the interests of the editors so that could be something very interesting as it lets us get a closer look about what makes them tick. With the first issue making its debut tomorrow I will likely try to snag a copy and hope there is an additional signing being held somewhere in the near future. Some additional sample pages can be viewed below. What do you think of this new launch? Will you be supporting the publication? Let me know in the comments section.
