As most of you know by now, the “Rock” and “Metal” categories for the Grammy Awards is no longer something that is a part of the lengthy broadcast that will be “officially beginning” at 8PM, EST this evening. These categories are instead celebrated and awarded earlier in pre-show festivities which essentially frees up any of the Metalheads who were hoping to catch these genres during the broadcast. Having monitored their assorted feeds, I’ve managed to compile a list of the winners and now present those categories alone for you to quickly peruse and then forget about the Grammy Awards until next year. Presenting the Grammy Awards for the Rock, Metal and Alternative categories.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: Starting from the top, congrats to Yungblud and company for his rendition of “Changes” by Black Sabbath. It was a stunning moment during an incredible concert for Ozzy’s farewell to the live stage. Sadly, no one could have anticipated his joining the other music legends in the beyond shortly afterwards. Kudos to the band Turnstile who took home “Best Metal Performance” but I admit that I have never followed them before. I took a listen on Spotify found it to be more Hardcore than Metal. The “Best Rock Song” went to Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross but it didn’t do anything for me. The “Best Rock Album” was another win for Turnstile and again, for me they sound hardcore but good for them bringing some super heavy stuff to the table. The track “Alone” by The Cure is a solid one and I had never heard it until just before pressing “publish” on this post so it probably deserved to win for “Best Alternative Music Performance”. Truth be told I’ve not listened to The Cure in quite some time and I’ve never ever caught them in concert but since they also won the Grammy for “Best Alternative Music Album” I’ll be listening to that in due time and probably will add a review to the website so all of you can know what I think about it. Wrapping up I wonder what you folks think about the winners of these Grammys? Chime in down below and I will see you with more stuff soon.
