Playmates Toys Presents: “Voltron Classic ’84 Legendary Lion” Collection

We’ve received some cool information from the fine folks at Playmates Toys who are the master toy licensee for DreamWorks Animation’s “Voltron: Legendary Defender”. You probably remember this company’s name from all the times we’ve showcased their “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” line of action figures and accessories. This January, your toybox and other action figures will be much safer thanks to the protection of the “Voltron Classic ’84 Legendary Lion” collection. Let’s take a look at the release and the images that I’ve secured.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: Yeah it’s pretty safe to say that I want this stuff. I always loved the classic Voltron and with the ability to take all of the lions and assemble the mighty Voltron is just an awesome thing. As a fan of the classic Transformers line that Hasbro does, anything that is something one way and becomes something else when combined with other parts works very well for me. I’ve spoken about a couple of the existing Voltron products from Playmates toys and while they were cool to have they were a little more limited in scope. These lions appear to be sturdier in construction and more capable of some heroic play or just standing proudly on your collection display shelves. Sure they are priced accordingly but in life you get what you pay for. What do you folks who are fans of Voltron think about these?
