If you’re only just seeing this now let me welcome you to the third post of coverage from the recent Toy Association Toy Fair that was held over at the Javits Center. You’re not too late to the party as I’ve got a miles length of things to share coming up but this post seems to finish my brief exhibitor findings. By batching several of the companies that I engaged with together, I ensure that everyone gets a little promotion on the website. My plan is to follow these posts with longer and more in-depth exhibitor reveals. You won’t be disappointed at all trust me so let’s get back on track with the first batch of visuals from a company called LBO Collective or Let’s Be Onyx as I was told. Please enjoy the continued presentation.

What first drew me to the LBO Collective booth was the signage for “Captain Action”, an action figure for the lads from way back in time. This was originally aimed at being a competing action figure to the famed G.I. Joe line. It was also designed by the same person, Sam Weston.

Captain Action himself was not present at the Toy Fair but the company was introducing Major Action to show that there is an expansion of the line. Perhaps we shall find a female figure and some kind of young sidekick in the future.

Though you can’t tell with the limited photos I was able to share with you from the booth, one of the main appeals of the “Captain Action” line was the fact that you would purchase a figure and then a superhero outfit for him to wear. I remembered their being a Superman, Batman, Spider-Man (I think) and a Green Hornet. Oddly enough I found a Green Hornet one several years ago but it was a revisit and not an original. It’s mint in box just the same.

Where there are heroes there are villains and the “Captain Action” universe has two insidious characters for the heroes to contend with. Here’s Doctor Evil and Professor Fangs. The Doctor Evil I was told has been modified from his original look and the Professor is a new antagonist.

The “Captain Action” line of figures is set at a $175-$200 MSRP and that is a bit pricy unless this is your absolute favorite action figure line. This is out of my budget but I feel it would be cool to have a 6″ figure line that came at a lower price point. Closing this part is a photo down below of Mechabot”. I didn’t get too much intel on him but he def reminded me of the classic “Shogun Warriors” of my past.

I can attest to the quality of the “Captain Action” line but as I’ve already stressed its for a certain discriminating collector. The other products that they were showing was a series called “Yo Monsta”. The interesting looking line of figures seemed to be about 4″ in height each with about five points of articulation.

So according to the reps, the “Yo Monsta” line is a series of monsters that are also rappers. They have some quirky names and designs and in some sense they reminded me of a new more modern version of the “Groovy Ghoulies” that I used to follow when I was a kid.

Down below you’ll find images of all of the different characters that they brought to the Toy Fair.

There’s even a monster boom box. That’s a win for me for sure.

As I wrap up the LBO Collective stuff I mused how much fun some of these properties would be in a comic book series. Captain Action for sure fire high adventure and maybe even some kind of quirky comedy series with a strong Rap aesthetic. Perhaps DMC Comics should be contacted since the one and only Darryl McDaniels runs that.

For our friends at Super Impulse I didn’t overshoot images even though I could have. You likely know the company well from their amazing line of “World’s Smallest” items and even their Pop Taters. For this section of the post I only snapped a few images of the things that I found most interesting.

Now this is something that I’d love to have in the collection. It’s not part of the World’s Smallest line but its still small and represents the classic U.S.S. Enterprise from “Star Trek”. it even comes with a little stand for you to place it among other things on your bookshelf or that section of the desk.

There was also some cool Godzilla miniatures and I’m going to need to look into those as well since the king of the Kaiju is also a favorite thing.

One of the products that we fell in love with about a year or so ago was their line of Poptaters. They worked along the lines of the famed Mr. Potato Head toy but these brought a wide variety of popular cartoons and science fiction properties into the mix. They also did two members of KISS which I don’t think I have to mention sold me on them straight away. The one down below is their modified Starchild one. He has Hatsune Miyu next to him and as expected you can swap hair and faces on these things.

They also did a Poptater of Godzilla and I know a lot of the fans are going to want this one. I know that I do and hope that they can expand on the line with other popular monsters from the Godzilla universe.

To illustrate the wide variety of the “World’s Smallest” line, here is a very fun, but strange game called “Bop It”. I never owned this one but my friends kids had it and it was a lot of laughs.

I probably should have lent some focus on the World’s Smallest that depicted the action figures, comic books and more Sci-Fi stuff but I didn’t. I loved these miniature “Masters Of The Universe” items. They had quite a few of the figures and who doesn’t want a tiny Skeletor.

Going forward I’m hoping to keep a better track of the “World’s Smallest” stuff that falls into our own collector demographic. I am also hoping that they decide to complete the KISS line of Poptaters and give us a Spaceman and Catman. We KISS fanatics are nothing if not completists.

The folks at Handmade by Robots is still on the new side to me but I wanted to include them in these narratives since they had a number of cool properties that I think you would all key into. The batch that I saw during the Toy Fair were mostly Horror in nature and yes, they even had a Godzilla. During the 2023 Toy Fair they were giving out a small figure of their mascot but I think they need to make small Godzilla’s. Please enjoy this section of the coverage.

The time I had when I passed the Kidrobot booth was very limited and most of what I saw were not what I would normally feature outside of these two Godzilla items. I have to say there was certainly a lot of Godzilla stuff at the Toy Fair.
