Of the InToy Fair 2015 was around the corner and once again PiercingMetal.com was one of the small group of press outlets invited to the inner sanctum of the Mezco Toyz company in order to get an advance look at their latest offerings. I would be joined by my stalwart colleague in arms, Skeleton Pete Parrella and present you with my findings in this post. Take a deep breath, map out how you might want to use that surplus cash going forward in this new year and continue on deep into this narrative. Licensed properties from “Breaking Bad”, “Sons Of Anarchy”, “Mortal Kombat” and “Batman” will join up with their long standing “Living Dead Dolls” and “Mezitz”. Here we go….
The members of the Press were greeted by the company mascot Gomez. Don’t worry folks, he doesn’t bite 🙂
We were all escorted over to the conference room which had been setup to showcase all of the new offerings and in the center of the room were some banners. One banner featured the “Mortal Kombat X” license so we shall begin with those images.
I’m not too up on the recent “Mortal Kombat” stuff but its surely popular among the gamers of the world and these figures will allow its fans to bring more adventures to life. There are some 6″ figures along with the 3.5″ inch ones so you can have them go head to head with your Marvel Legends or GI Joe figures.
There are bobbleheads and plushies to enjoy if you like those kind of things.
The excitement was high about this next super-sized figure which is the one and only Bugs Bunny. This was about two feet tall and he was amazing. Let’s hope that they make some smaller figures because I can see the whole Looney Tunes universe being worth collecting.
Here’s the action figure for Gustavo Fring and Saul Goodman from “Breaking Bad”; As you can see there are a lot of figures to choose from along with plushies and bobbleheads.
Next up comes the “Sons Of Anarchy” line and I must admit that I have not yet seen a single episode of the program but know so many friends who have watched from the beginning until its recent end. Judging by the photos I have seen and the commercials I can say that these are spot on.
Much like the “Breaking Bad” sets above you will find both plushies and bobbleheads for “SOA” as well.
It’s without question that this was my very favorite of the new offerings and I am speaking of course of their brand new, highly detailed collectible figure for “Batman: The Dark Knight Returns”. These figures were incredible and looked just like what we read in the now classic mini-series of the same name. If you for some reason do NOT know this story, I suggest you get to the Amazon.com site and order a copy as this is required fan reading.
Press was allowed to take the Batman figure out of the box and examine it or play with it however you choose to view it. There are a lot of little pieces with this particular figure in the photos below so I just moved the parts on the caped crusader around to see how they “felt” as a long time fan of these kinds of collectibles. The articulation was awesome and I am someone who goes as far back as the original Kenner “Star Wars” figures and Megos so I have some background.
“Judge Dredd” also has a figure coming out in this line and as you can see “He Is The Law”. Wonderful figure but there was not one to get a closer, hands on look unfortunately. Hey Mez please tell me you are going to make a Judge Death as well. That would be sick!
If you have been watching “The Flash” then you might find this new Mezitz Mini set of interest as its the Scarlet Speedster and Captain Cold.
Here’s Series 29 of the infamous “Living Dead Doll” Series. Dreadfully frightening as expected and a few other unique offerings this year as well as you will see below in the photographs.
There is a Kiss Of Death figure along with an Annabelle and right below them you can see that even “Chucky” is coming to the “Living Dead Dolls” line along with a revamped version of the Creature From The Black Lagoon.
Closing up I wanted to showcase that there is a limited edition version of the “Gustavo Fring” action figure from the “Breaking Bad” set and this is only being made available in a small amount to those who act fast enough to order it from the company webstore. The company will also be handing some of them out at Toy Fair 2015 to my knowledge and the bundle comes with a super cool Judge Dredd Mezitz Mini keychain. You can check out the figure in the packaging as well as open right below but there was no Dredd keychain onhand to showcase so apologies for that.
Just in case you missed these signs as the photos passed by you, there are some exciting items to come as the year gets older and among them are “Thundercats”, “Beetlejuice” and two that I am super excited for with “Gigantor” and the “Living Dead Dolls Wizard Of Oz” line.
