Hey there my fine readers, I’m taking a brief pause to share another bit of coolness with you all. Now many of you know how we like to shine the spotlight on special events and milestones when it comes to brand just as much as we like to continually showcase the content. Recently, I announced that the Official PiercingMetal YouTube was celebrating its 15th Anniversary and if you missed that post you can just click HERE to learn all of the inside scoop about it. It’s a fun read and in there I also share some of the favorite clips that have been posted over the years. Today’s announcement came to my email just yesterday when I learned that this Channel had officially uploaded its “500th” video. The announcement came from the VidIQ service which is a free and pay for use service aimed at working deeper in one’s YouTube Channel. I’ll link to them at the close but here is the graphic that announced my reaching this number of videos. To be honest, its pretty cool.

Now you might be wondering why the Channel has only now reached its 500th Video after existing for so many years but as I mention in the anniversary posting, once I created the this Channel for PiercingMetal I barely used it. While it was touched upon over the years it wasn’t until the COVID-19 pandemic that I really dove into it and created all sorts of video content mostly to keep myself from going stir crazy in the lockdown. When you scroll deep back into the content you will see more clips that are bringing you into the rocking concerts that we regularly attend but such content nowadays is frowned upon and will likely get your Channel some copyright strikes. One of the things that I began doing to keep the Channel as topical to our interests as possible was to fully embrace the Geek side of the fence and showcase a lot of the comic book stuff. For instance, videos from the always awesome “Free Comic Book Day” like the one below.

Now while I mentioned concert clips in full were frowned upon, I would start doing these “Check In” clips from assorted shows like the one from The Warning which was only a few weeks ago and just fantastic. These are relegated to the “Shorts” initiative that YouTube has been pushing of late. My thoughts are that YouTube is competing with the likes of TikTok and Instagram Reels and if they bring my assorted Channels some extra attention then I am fine with that. These “Shorts” can only be 60 seconds or less if you were wondering which means you have to be on your game when you do them.

Creatively speaking I will be uploading a lot more videos and especially the stuff in the Shorts realm since the creative outlet is rather boundless there and it feeds differently from the other stuff. With the Shorts I can do comic store visits, unboxings and even more stuff from the hit movies when I attend them in addition to those “Hey We’re Here at the Show” clips. For the longer clips I have a lot of conventions on the horizon which means more of those artist interviews and since this is new news, I can share with you all that I have been confirmed to attend the famed New York Comic Con for my thirteenth straight year as a member of the media. Last year I did about “19” interviews and if I am lucky I will be aiming the meter a little higher. The plan is to do similar clips for the music side of the fence as well since I’ve been neglecting that aspect based on how busy the convention stuff had gotten. Now before I wrap this up here is the hard sell. In order to be monetized in YouTube for any of your content you need to surpass 1000 subscribers and have 4000 hours viewed in a calendar year. We are not at all near these milestones, but with a website that pulls in a few million pages viewed each year think that you all in the readership can help us achieve this so please subscribe and watch, watch, watch. Remember that any monetization helps me keep the lights on which I am sure you’d like me to do. There is also a Ko-Fi link down below which serves as a tip jar under the Ken Pierce Media branding. Thanks for reading and supporting this side of the creative angle we do appreciate you.
