The fine folks over at Meta, the parent company of Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram have recently announced the launch of a brand-new social media application to keep up with. Introducing “Threads from Instagram” which at first glance seems to have the familiar vibe of what Twitter used to have when it first launched. You can create an account right from your existing Instagram profile and the good part is that it uses the same exact handle. Ours remains “PiercingMetalNYC” since the proper branding has been the victim of a squatter for more than a decade. You’ll have to click the link to get to our Threads profile since you cannot properly embed such things at this time.

Now truth be told I don’t know how much I will actually be using this but if it feels better than Twitter does, then I might do it a lot more often. For PiercingMetal, the Twitterverse has been failing the brand on a regular basis despite my best efforts. At the time that you are reading this I am trying to come up with a proper strategy for Threads so let’s see what happens. Right out of the gate the profile has secured a number of followers but we are really far from breaking down any media doors here.
The interested are encouraged to give us a “Follow” and by all means engage with the content since it would be so nice to hear from you on some of the posts as opposed to just giving the account said follow. Today, the engagement is just as important as the number of followers and the likes. I mean I will take them all of course since its a jungle out there and one finds competition at every turn. As you know, I like to occasionally embed my Instagram posts into regular website posts and until Threads permits that sort of thing I will not be doing any of that.
