Now that I’ve disclosed the Toys Of The Year that were voted on by the masses, its time to aim the camera at the absolute awesomeness that is to be found in the Javits Center. I’ll be assembling a whole bunch of posts for your viewing please and while some will be broader overviews, there will be others that are dedicated to one or two companies per post. Let’s start off in the DC Direct booth. This is the toy line from the DC Entertainment folks and if you love the classic heroes like Batman, Superman and the rest then you will love these. Here we go with some characters based on Mad Magazine designs.
These statues are based on the Batman “Black and White” comics series. All done by different artists and very cool. Clear a shelf in your collectibles cabinet for these.
A trio of awesome statues. I apologize for the light in this one. Don’t worry I will get some closer up shots next.
I loved the Harley Quinn and the Nightwing the best of these three. That Joker looks too creepy for me. Next up a few Batman Arkham video game based action figures. This Grundy was massive.
Some statues from “Watchmen”.
Now onto some of the worlds most amazing heroines and a villain.
“In Brightest Day In Blackest Night, No Evil Shall Escape My Sight. Let Those Who Worship Evil’s Might, Beware My Power – Green Lantern’s Light” – Yeah I know the creed by heart but don’t actually have a power ring of my own. Unless I snag one of these awesome replica lanterns and rings. They have one for the Sinestro Corps and some others.
Some additional action figures. I love these and am really holding back on building a collection of them all. There are so many its easy to lose yourself in them. Don’t let me stop you since I’d love to see your collection in photos 🙂
Statues from “Man Of Steel”. I still cannot believe how much like Henry Cavill this first one looks. Wowza.
Closing up on this piece is a few shots of a Superman series of statues. These are all around 6″ or 8″ inches in character height so perfect for a nice display shelf. Right next to those Batman ones we saw way up above.
This next image comes with a little sadness. Its a beautiful sculpt of Superman and Wonder Woman in a loving embrace but it was damaged in transit so the rep had to hold it for the shot. Quite a statue and also very big.
That brings me to the end of this installment and I hope you enjoyed it. As I’ve mentioned already, this is the third year that our outlet has attended this convention and with that being the case I am getting a better understanding on how best to present it to you. There is truly too much to absorb for mere expansive single overviews. Please let me know what you think of these DC Direct offerings down in the comments below. Many items displayed will be available for purchase later in the year so check with your local comic or specialty shops to see when they are getting them. See you next time.
