For the next few posts I’ll be presenting my findings from the brand new convention known as the “Special Edition NYC” and for those who have never heard of it, I guess the best way to sum it up is to say that its a smaller scaled NY Comic Con and one that is specifically focused on the comic book creators, their companies and retailers. This weekends event would also be the first go round of this convention and much like the Comic Con would be held at the spacious Javits Center, but in its North Wing. As you see by the photo below I had secured the proper Press Credentials and would be able to explore the event as a member of the media. As I have done with numerous NY Comic Con postings, our readers can count on plenty of photographs and thoughts that bring them into the happening with us. Let’s get to work.
The first Cosplayer that I encountered was this superb Batman Beyond fella. I gladly included him in the coverage and even began to load up the Official PiercingMetal Instagram with images from this point on.
Batman recently celebrated his 75th Anniversary and just before entering the part of the Javits that held this convention you would pass a bunch of larger cardboard figures. They showcased The Batman at various points in his illustrious career. I took photos of all of them. Can you identify the various stages of Batman’s mythology based on these cutouts?
Now this particular convention was on a much smaller scale than the Megalith that New York Comic Con has become so was set up in full in the part of Javits Center that is normally used for the Artist Alley stuff. As you can see there are still a lot of sights to see.
My overall plan for this convention was to shoot images of a lot of the Cosplayers as I saw them in attendance. I figured that since this kind of thing was enjoyed by so many readers of our NYCC coverage pieces that I should aim some strong focus.
That’s it for my first installment from this convention. If you have seen my older NY Comic Con posts you already know that I like to keep these chapters at fifty images the most. While this aspect requires me to make more chapters, it’s also is a lot easier to digest and let’s the talented individuals mentioned be focused on
