Alright my friends and fellow Comic Book Convention loving maniacs, it’s time to start sharing the adventures that I undertook at the 2013 NY Comic Con. Today was technically the second day of the massive event that dominates The Javits Center and since I was walking this as one of the fans this time around, I had only secured a “3 Day” Pass. Despite losing one day, I felt that we met a wonderful batch of new Cosplay friends and reconnected with a few handfuls of professionals that are always welcome sights at the Con. In order to keep your focus, I’ll be parsing out each post to fifty images apiece. It’s more work for sure but let’s those who want to find themselves do so with more ease. Here we go.
When I arrived to the Javits Center the lines were already incredibly long but that is nothing new when it comes to this particular event. This year had a new process where you had to tap a screen with your badge when you went in or went out so that added to the wait time but it surely helped prevent those fake badges from getting into the event. While I waited on line I met this charming Aussie lass who kept me company until we both went in and on our separate ways. I guess she was in SHIELD Cosplay.
The God of Mischief Loki was a popular Cosplay once again and this season I would encounter several of his female counterparts. Dare I say “Lokette”? Whatever the proper syntax this young lady was sure imposing.
Then there was this awesome She-Hulk Cosplayer and she was reflecting upon the time where the Jade Giantess was a member of the Fantastic Four. Remember those stories? That was when The Thing was off world somewhere.
Quite the Marvel-ous Team-Up 🙂
This couple showed that the classics never cease to amaze; Mario and Luigi Cosplay
This Lois Lane cosplayer will not have an issue with Superman, and Superboy by her side….
These “Call Of Duty” Cosplayers were taking no prisoners, err I guess they were for this photo though 🙂
There was a giant Mega Bloks Army Vehicle in the lobby and the attendees of the con were able to assemble something of their own with the bin of bloks that were there for them to use. No I didn’t make anything. Next time.
This charming Cosplayer was helping out at the booth for Elite Video Subscriptions. It lets you watch Anime on any device for a set price per month. Considering the popularity of this stuff I bet it works.
I’m going to assume that these next characters that came walking by had something to do with Candy Crush Saga.
At every turn were styling Cosplaying fans.
Taking a bite and a pint of blood out of the news comes this seductive Vampire Newswoman
One of the companies that we often see at Toy Fair when that event is being documented is Mega Bloks and they had a nice display up this year at Comic Con so I snapped some photos for you to enjoy.
The folks at Mattel Toys had a wonderful section at the NY Comic Con this year and since we didn’t see their pavilion last year at Toy Fair I figured let’s showcase them for a few photos as well. The did a cool Batman series among many other things but you can see for yourself.
“Monster High” is a runaway hit and if you have never heard about them, they are the teenaged daughters of the famous monsters of Film land. It’s a clever idea and let’s the young ladies have something a little edgier than just Barbie.
Here is a display of the “Masters Of The Universe” – He-Man is back for the attack my friends and Skeletor better watch himself.
Wow to this awesome and updated Castle Grayskull from the “Masters Of The Universe” line.
Now let’s check out some of their DC Comics properties….
Mattel put out a classic 1966 “Batman” line and I love it. They look almost exactly like the characters on the show that I loved as a child. I will be buying these soon enough.
Okay I want this Batmobile – Don’t you?
Mattel had a display where you could shoot a rubber figure at targets and win a prize. I did not win a prize so I am guessing that I do finally need glasses.
They had both Batgirl and Supergirl helping the fans with this game.
Here we find Supergirl helping out the fans on the line.
Here is some of their “Man Of Steel” line of figures and vehicles
These looked really close to the film characters. Don’t you think so? Did you see the film? I rather enjoyed it.
The larger display of the “Quick Shots” game that I just mentioned.
We know a lot of Comic Con fans are into the Wrestling so here are Mattel’s figures for that license.
Wow this was creepy. Had no idea what she was supposed to be though.
This was also confusing but cool…
Now here is someone I recognize, the mighty Man Of Steel (but a cosplayer)
Spider-Man is really hanging out with a rough crowd these days….
Alright so that is the end of our very first installment for this years Con. As I stressed at the beginning of this chapter, there will be more to enjoy for the next several days. Until that time do please click on the websites of some of the talented people that we encountered and mentioned in this particular chapter. I know that they would appreciate that support. If you should know any of the characters that I listed as unknown please drop me a note on our Facebook Page so it can be fixed. See you tomorrow with more Contastic Visuals.
