Let’s get this party started shall we? Now, before I get into my many chapter posts about the 2012 NY Comic Con I want to tell you that it already has been a killer week for this reporter. All good things of course as we had a couple of concerts with Three Friends (doing their Gentle Giant set) and the mighty KISS performing at Live On Letterman in the famous Ed Sullivan Theater. This morning I hit a special Q&A session with KISS over at the Sirius XM Studios and of course all of those adventures will become posts as soon as I wrangle all the stuff together. Now it was time to get my butt in gear for the first part of Comic Con which was the Press/Professionals and VIP ticket holders day. This is the second year in a row that the fans mingled in with the Press and Pros as opposed to our kind being given a few hours of peace to observe and make notes about what we needed to see at the Con. The new model gets more fans into the room and now allows the event to span four days.
Once I secured my official Press Credentials it was into the halls of Javits I would go. The badge this year featured “The Walking Dead” rather prominently and as you can see by the photo above the press had a cool and scary looking zombie on it. Of course on the way down to the Javits Center, I met and walked to the hall with these three cool cosplayers. Since they were so nice I snapped my very first fan shots with them. This time around I think I will do a lot more cosplay photos since it lets the fans hard work shine. Enjoy…..

As you walked into the Javits just before the actual Convention Hall, you saw this awesome sight. A robotic forklift versus an Alien creature. Fans could get inside the automaton for a photo op but I was unsure whether there was a fee for this or not. Probably. Still cool.

These charming ladies were a part of Wii U. This will be the next generation in the Wii gaming system. I’m told it will be coming out around this time next month.

The folks at Matty Collector dotcom had some cool things in the display case. Just check out that giant Voltron. Matty stands for Mattel in case you wondered.

The first Batman of the Con that I saw was not far from the Matty section. He kindly posed for a second but then had important business protecting Gotham City to attend to.

Remember The Skylanders Giants that we brought up during our Toy Fair 2012 coverage? No? Oh well. Here is Tree Rex from that awesome game but check it out, he is made completely of Mega Blox.

This Goth was dishing out the Vampirefreaks.com coolness in a sweet Batman t-shirt.

Over at the DC Comics booth, we saw murals such as this one for the Justice League

You know who this is I am sure. It’s Jim Lee and he is the Co-Publisher of DC Comics.

Here’s a couple of folks representing Arcana Comics’ own “Headsmash”. The story sounded interesting.

Wow it’s another sight from Toy Fair. Aren’t you readers lucky. This is the “Smell Like An Avenger” display from Jads International. They make a line of colognes for each of the Mighty Avengers and their actually quite nice. There is a Captain America one, Thor, Iron Man, Black Widow and even Hulk. Not sure I would want to smell like the Hulk of course. There was a Loki one but I felt that my tagline of “smells like trouble” and “a scent of mischief is in the air” were better 🙂 No offense of course.
This girl was helping to push the latest adventures of Rat Bastard. I admit I am not up on what that is at all. No big.

These next two ladies are from Athena’s Wink. Right below in the yellow is Neo Angel Wink while the next is Athena. They hail from Brooklyn (so neighbors for us in a sense) and they make these cute hats and accessories.

Now here is a team up I never thought I would see, it’s a Cosplay Black Widow and a Cosplay Catwoman (both from the recent year in movies of course and not from the actual comics). It was a pleasure to see Natasha and Selena out shopping during the Con….hey wait a minute those are not your names…..

Here’s the folks from Magic Leap Studios. One of their creative team is Andy Mangels (right)

Here are some of the characters in the Magic Leap Studios universe. The first is the Cosmic Castaway….

And the next are the Astrofarians…..they were interesting for sure.

Have you ever tried Hi-Chew fruit chews? They had a section at the Con, and I LOVE THESE CANDIES….they are kind of like Starburst but not exactly. Needless to say I scored a handful and thanked them for keeping the PiercingMetal engine running on sugar during the Con.

There were several clothing lines at the Con this year and Headrush’s MMA stuff was one of the first that I observed. Their booth girl was the incredibly lovely Chelsea.

Here is another of Chelsea. What a smile.

Vampirefreaks has a big booth at Comic Con for their clothing and accessories, these two ladies were wandering the aisles and handing out stickers, buttons and more. While I did not catch the name of the girl in black, the one in pink is Tracy Wayne Gacy.

The X-Men Cosplay was on point with this amazing Storm.

I love some of the things that DK Publishing puts out. They did those awesome comprehensive encyclopedia’s for Marvel and DC which I recommend. Here are some new DC guides. Ooooo Batman….

This is Miss Lyndsay Faye, the author of “Gods Of Gotham” (it’s a mystery)

Batman and Riddler (wait, that’s not correct)

Hey it’s Patrick Reilly, creator of “Electrolyte and The Justice Purveyors”. I reviewed some of those issues HERE in case you are interested in learning more about it.

Some great Manga Cosplay
Here is “Connor” from Assassin’s Creed III….great Cosplay.

Even the dogs get dressed up, but this is the only dog that I have ever seen here at the Con.
Over at the Shout Factory booth we found Tom Servo and Frank along with one of the company’s main media faces. There is a lot of great stuff on Shout Factory in terms of video and music properties so check them out.

Based on their matching shirts, I insisted that these charming young ladies took crowns from the Shout Factory booth.
This booth is for Gummibar.net and they have a cute character that is used on games and such forth. Their link is below for your further examination. They had a character walking around I swore but I did not capture a shot of him.

This is Miss Hannah Minx. I was not too up to date on her but some of the fans around her booth said she teaches you Japanese words via her YouTube.com channel. Clever idea.

Miss Minx also has a lot of merchandise to sell you if you have interest.
Here’s the booth for Zombiezom.com, I loved their quote “zombies are fun until they’re not….”

Hey it’s the guys in Metal Sucks hawking their fine designs done by Vertabrae 33 and showing off a new hoodie. I’ll be back here across the con as they have some Metal elite making appearances.

He’s Gotham’s Reckoning. There were a lot of Bane’s at the Comic Con this year.

Lovely Japanese Girl repping the Manga”Gen 3″
Great Cosplay but I don’t know what it is supposed to be.
The New-Gen booth had a lot of activity going on during the Con, and I love seeing their cast of characters brought to life for the fans to interact with. Here are a few shots from their booth area….

New-Gen creations are interviewed by Gary Dell’Abate (Bababooey) from the Howard Stern show. That’s Gabriel and Gazelle from the New-Gen Universe in case you wondered.

Yes the fans were yelling “Bababooey” as they passed and alright so did I but come on, you would too…..

Over at Lego, there was an amazing Darth Maul…..it was huge…..

These folks were playing some kind of a Lego based game. It looked interesting and they didn’t mind me capturing them in mid play. Now back to your tournament….
Not far away from this setup was the direct competitor to Lego with Mega Bloks and here is their giant HALO soldier display. Wow cool right?

The charming rep for Mega Bloks….

And she asked me to get into one of the photos as well, so I obliged.

Now you know that I am no where near with being finished with this massive presentation from the four days that we will be attending the Comic Con, so please stay tuned for the next installment and I will plan on posting at least a chapter each day until I get through all the photos that I wanted to share with you. I decided to present about fifty images in each installment to not lose your interest. Don’t forget to click the links below to learn more about the people and places that we encountered and come find us on the Official Facebook. I feel it will keep you amused until I return with the next installment.
