Hey gang, welcome back to our explorations into the NY Comic Con for 2014; This is our second chapter from the Day One stuff that I observed and as you might expect I am loving the chance to bring it all to your attention. As mentioned in the previous posting, there are a few more than fifty images this time based on my wanting to keep Day One to three chapters. Continuing along here are the photos that the beautiful Cosplayer Jessica Nigri was selling and signing for her fans.
Next up a great Cosplay group of Batman Family characters with Riddler, Catwoman, Robin and one sporting a Harley Quinn shirt.
There was a few guys dressed like this but I don’t think they were aiming to be the Red Skull we know from Captain America. He was handing out cards to various people that he passed.
Here’s a New 52 Superman Cosplay joining forces with a Captain America Cosplay from WWII.
A Black Widow cosplayer takes aim at this Entertainment Scribe.
This year’s NY Comic Con was doing what they called “The Super Week” and it was a series of events. One such event was a concert at Madison Square Garden by X Japan. The show was on the coming Saturday and this podium was set up for a press conference that was going to be held either today or tomorrow. I didn’t recall at the moment that I shot this but I did attend a Press Conference by drummer Yoshiki several weeks earlier that can be seen HERE.
The dragon Smaug guarded this particular pavilion and appeared to be sleeping at the time we happened by. I consider that a stroke of luck since he is not the most pleasant of dragons.
I asked these three Cosplayers to stop for a shot but had no idea what they were aimed at being. They looked pretty cool though and that is all that matters.
Talk about being a part of the game. This young lady was dressed as a Mario Brothers video game. Atari Cosplay I guess is the best label for this outfit. Nicely done and very creative.
This menacing Orc was looking to lay waste to any Cosplayer in reach of his weapon. He always was a part of the Weta pavilion where we just avoided Smaug. They are providers of fine film props and accessories. This stuff looks great but of course the quality comes at a price.
A dangerous Harly Quinn Cosplay poses for fans and media alike at one of the booths.
While “Adventure Time” meets “Pac-Man’s Ghost” in this particular photo.
Great costumes on display at the Con.
Here are a couple of shots of Steven Vaughan’s “Art Rod”. Wonderful masterpiece on wheels.
Here is the great Neal Adams. We always love saying hello to him, and he is continually besieged by fans that want their portfolios critiqued. Be aware that he can be tough on you but its expert advice.
A couple of old friends were chanced upon and while one was Cosplaying Adventure Time, the other was just wandering incognito. It was so nice to catch them in a room with bajillions walking around.
A Batgirl Cosplay and a Mystique (from X-Men) Cosplay
A lovely Denarys is hawking some dragon eggs in case you are interested.
A deadly Poison Ivy Cosplay….
Some more costumes with one from the classic Batman series of the sixties. Man do I hope that show comes out soon. I am dying to watch it again after so many years.
They also had some Starfleet Command uniforms to choose from.
This Harley Quinn told me that she is “The Healthy Harlequinn” and tries to promote exercise, good heart health and keeping one’s weight under control. It didn’t help that I was scarfing down a couple of miniature Snickers Bars when I met her but oh well. I think this is a great idea oh Healthy one.
Here’s another Harley Quinn. I would run into a couple of hundred of them at the Con this year. Something tells me that she is officially a popular character. What do you think?
This great Wonder Woman cosplay was hanging around near the table of Jason Sobol.
Here’s Jason Sobol. Thanks for the photo ops JS. Have a good Convention.
Rhiannon Owens was quite busy when we passed by so I did not bother her and just snapped a pic.
Here’s a very happy to see everyone Oliver Robbs.
Three Sisters in Cosplay. Loved the dragon that Denarys was carrying along.
Here’s Piggy, a heroic three-legged dog that we met at Special Edition NYC earlier in the year. Okay so this is his table and owners. He was actually napping and I didn’t want to bother him. There were still three days left at the Con and that is a lot of people to meet.
I’m pretty sure that these two were supposed to be zombified “Adventure Time” characters.
Pitching the “Vamplets” to the passerby.
It’s always nice to see Lord Vader wandering the convention and seeing what items are needed for the Galactic Empire.
This is the booth for painter Destiny Blue but when I passed by she was not there. Her friend said she had another spot during the Con so I would be keeping my eye out for her since she was so nice to meet the last time around. Her link is at the close of this chapter for good measure.
Perhaps the Dim Sum Warriors are up your alley.
Repping the Ladies of the Marvel Universe are the Peggy Carter Cosplay, Thor Cosplay, Loki Cosplay and another Loki Cosplay. Whew. There were also a lot of “She-Loki’s” in Cosplay this Con. So many of them rocked.
This Catwoman Cosplay had a lot of style for sure.
While every Deadpool that we met across the Convention was an absolute loon. These two for sure.
Here’s the Boom Studios pavilion.
Here’s a few images from the Marvel Comics pavilion; One of the things they were showcasing was a SHIELD experience. Looked interesting.
Here’s the amazing Nadya Sonika, a cosplayer we met a couple of years ago. Today she was dressed as “Poison” and at a booth with some other girls who were all signing their photos for ardent fans. Nadya said to make sure to stop back across the other days since she would have other Cosplay going on. Yes Ma’am, I will be there for sure and promise to take more photos of you.
This Spock Cosplayer was incredibly authentic and he was also collecting donations for charity and would pose with you if you donated.
Here’s Ani-Mia in lovely Assassins Creed Cosplay at the Costumer Supercenter booth and she is always super friendly.
Charming Poison Ivy Cosplay along with a Lady Nightwing Cosplay.
Here’s the guys in Geeks Out.
This is Stella Chuu, she is also a Cosplayer and was appearing at the booth with Nadya and some other girls who were known for the craft.
This is Dangrrr Doll who is a Cosplayer and Burlesque Dancer. I actually have seen her before as well at a couple of Metal shows that had such dancing going on during their festivities.
A quick glimpse of the Topps offerings at their table.
While high above, the Dark Horse Comics sign shines bright like the Bat-Signal, oh wait, wrong outlet. Forgiveness please 🙂 I should have said “Hellboy Signal”.
Let’s close this part out with two very sweet Avengers in their ladylike Cosplay renditions of Captain America and Thor.
How’d you like those apples my friends? Quite a lot of colorful characters and inventive vendors to choose from in this segment. I’ll be back tomorrow with the final serialized chapter for Day One and if you should happen to see anyone you know in these images, do please send them the link to the page so they can share it with others. We love bringing this Con to life on the site and until next time click some of the weblinks below to learn more about what you saw over the course of this chapter.
