It’s been a couple of years since I had adventured into the Book Expo America, and the first time around I had been able to attend the Blog Expo during the very same week which made the educational time all the more exciting. This year there would be no co-location with the blogging event and the halls of Javits were dedicated to the Book Expo alone. I would be joined by my stalwart colleague Skeleton Pete and our goal would be to focus on the properties that appeal to our mutual reader demographic. Join me on this largely photographic journey and by all means enjoy.
This is just a visual of the outside of the area designated as the Press Room. Essentially this was a cordoned off by a curtain space in the lobby of the Javits that had some tables and electricity and WiFi so we members of the media could keep our Social Networks in tune with the happenings around us. They also had coffee which I found to be a very welcome thing at the hour that we had arrived 🙂
One of the first stops we made was at the signing tables to check in with author D.L. King who would be offering up a new book that she edited and contributed tales to.

Rebellion Publishing had a few great Judge Dredd tomes that they were proud of. Collected editions that would leave you wanting more. He is the Law!!!

I will admit to having two of these delicious looking cupcakes but they were small so it’s okay. Right? Right?

DK Publishing had a book called Lego Brickmaster and two giant models built entirely of Lego blocks. That was impressive. Usually I have to wait until Toy Fair to see something like this.

Here are some familiar and friendly faces over at the Pink Pig Press table. That is Vell Sweeny and Liz (L2R) and we met them a couple of years ago at BEA. Today they showcased a brand new book and it looked wonderful. It’s called “Second Hand Cat” 🙂

Disney has a sizable bit of offerings up for examination.

If you watched “The Jersey Shore” you might recognize Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi

This next “Sideline” as they were called was really impressive and their owner a lot of fun. These are the offerings of “The Unemployed Philosopher’s Guild”; There are a few photos of their wares. All of it was a hoot.

Disco Queen Gloria Gaynor is featured in the book “First Ladies Of Disco” and she was at BEA signing copies of the tome.

Crowded as BEA was for her line, “She Will Survive” (oh come on tell me you didn’t see that coming)….

Let’s look around at some of the broader visuals shall we…..
Here’s Tamara Amos and Santa Claus; They were showcasing Tamara’s new book “Gift Of A Servant” at this season’s BEA.

Here’s the pavilion for Capstone Publishers. They had a lot of DC Comics properties and some cool posters which I made sure to take for my friends kids.

Their books are geared for a younger audience as you might notice but that is great since this builds up an appreciation for the comic book medium
