PiercingMetal Celebrates 10th Anniversary of YouTube Channel

Hails and hellos my friends, I’m here once more to shine a spotlight on one of the networks where you can find some PiercingMetal activity that falls outside of the general content of the actual dotcom.  I’m talking about the one and only YouTube and I’m here to say that our own “Official PiercingMetal Channel” on this network is ten years old effective today.

When I turn back the pages in our own website history, the site itself had only celebrated its own third anniversary a little over a week before since the sites birthday is 4/4/2005. So not only are we hitting 10 years of YouTubing, but the PiercingMetal outlet is on its “Lucky 13th” Year of online publishing. Of course, I’m not here to talk about that but if you are interested just click HERE for that article. Suffice it to say when I created my account on YouTube for PiercingMetal use back on this day, I wouldn’t get around to even posting on it until early 2011 which was almost three full years later. I regret this now and wish I had paid better attention to what could be done with this but one can’t cry over the spilt milk right. Back then I was seeing a lot of live music clips on the medium so I did one of those myself while sitting at the Gramercy Theatre enjoying a rousing set by the Nuclear Blast Records artist Eluveitie. It was a simple way to dive into this as I’d already wasted three years by doing nothing than pressing “create account”, but truth be told I wasn’t sure how I wanted the website to be portrayed here. Thinking back on it all I guess that didn’t run with it straight away because I didn’t want so many other things to take you away from the actual website. You might not realize this but when you are a publication the reps you deal with ask for traffic and numbers and site retention but honestly I don’t think a lot of them even know what all that stuff means. I come from IT and understand more deep technology than some others so I always have stats mentally up to do. That all said, below is the first-ever PiercingMetal YouTube Channel video; “Inis Mona” by Eluveitie. I used a little SONY point and shoot from the seated area at the Gramercy Theatre.

Once I started my usage of this medium, I tried to be a little more regular about it but let’s face it. When one has so many demands to address during the day, with the most important part of our work being still photography and editorial pieces, its rather hard to squeeze in the time to make some videos as well. Let’s not forget that I am my own Social Media Manager and need to curate and populate all of our social networks and the ones for “The Chronicles of Piercing Ken” as well. Oh yeah and speaking of “The Chronicles”, at the time of this particular anniversary that website DOES NOT have it’s own YouTube Channel and I hope to create one this year to get that out of the way and stop using my current method. I’ve been loading any videos done for that website on my original Personal YouTube Channel which doesn’t really help the brand but I digress, back to discussing this 10th Anniversary of the PiercingMetal YouTube Channel. Now since I didn’t have a closer to the anniversary date video other than this one from March where I walked around the Judas Priest Pop-Up Shop at a place called Sony Square I am sharing that one. It was a cool little mini-museum homage to Judas Priest and was lauding their “Firepower” album and it made for an interesting clip. I’ve embedded it below for you if you have not yet seen that.

Now its important to note that YouTube has changed the way that they work and what is considered permissable to add as your own content. They are heavy on the strikes with copyright stuff but we seem to have been okay when choosing to bring our viewership into the show with us to excite them about the bands. Going forward I see myself doing less of that stuff and more day to day Metal scene and even the convention scene stuff. I expect to attend the New York Comic Con in October and that offers up a lot of opportunities for sure and while I’ve not done many in person interviews for a number of years this might be the push to make me jump back into this kind of thing. I love talking to people and do a lot of that anyways during the course of the day so why not. Wrapping this announcement up I want to thank you if you are already subscribing to PiercingMetal on YouTube. If you aren’t, please know that the subscriber count helps the Channel achieve greater milestones and lets it do even more creative things. I’d also love to see comments coming in since that let’s me know what you are thinking about the content and maybe even where you’d like me to take this particular avenue. The bottom line goal is to entertain you and get you as excited about the things that I am participating in as I am. Okay, so now you know the drills. Subscribe, click the notification thingie, like videos and leave some comments. Easy enough right? I thought so. See you again soon, thanks for the support and for reading this anniversary notice.
