Though I’m sure that you know his often sonic register from being a founding member of “The Hottest Band In The World” KISS, you might not be aware of the soulful side of lead singer Paul Stanley. Introducing Paul Stanley’s Soul Station where we find the Starchild unmasked and together with a solid ensemble of players brings the listener back to the dynasty that was the seventies Soul music. Check out their premiere video for “O-o-h Child”; a song originally delivered by The Five Stairsteps.

The Soul Station: Rafael “Hoffa” Moreira (guitar & backing vocals), Sean Hurley (bass), Alex Alessandroni (Musical Director, keyboards), Ely Rise (keyboards), Eric Singer (drums & backing vocals), RayYslas (percussion), Gavyn Rhone (backing vocals), Crystal Starr (backing vocals) and Laurhan Beato (backing vocals) and Jon Pappenbrook (lead trumpet).

PiercingMetal Thoughts: Now before I offer up some opinion on this one, we can all agree that this is a great song right? Okay so let’s continue. This is one of my favorite numbers from the era but of course the last time I actually remember listening to it was when Starlord had challenged Ronan The Accuser to a dance-off in the first “Guardians Of The Galaxy” film. Since the video is a performance one there isn’t much to analyze here and its like watching an appearance on one of the variety shows and it works out fine. I love how Paul delivers this one and think that this upcoming full album might be the kind of treat the world needs during this trying time. I’d say that I’d be interested in catching them in concert but who knows when that’s going to be a thing to do again. As a KISS fan for many decades now, I enjoyed hearing the difference that was found here and the video made me feel this would have been wonderful to enjoy in the now shuttered B.B. King Blues Club. I’m looking forward to hearing more and of course to see KISS a couple of more times before their final show.
