Clearly Paramount+ is as dedicated to the “Star Trek” properties as Disney+ is to “Star Wars” and premiering shortly after the close of the second season of “Star Trek: Picard”, we will get “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds”. A teaser trailer has just dropped so I’ve embedded it down below and added in some premise, casting and available artwork. Take a look.

The Premise: Star Trek: Strange New Worlds follows Captain Christopher Pike and the crew of the starship USS Enterprise (NCC-1701) in the 23rd century as they explore new worlds throughout the galaxy in the decade before Star Trek: The Original Series. It has a contemporary take on that series’ episodic storytelling and 1960s designs, and features the following narration from Mount during each episode’s opening credits (similarly to the opening narrations in The Original Series and Star Trek: The Next Generation):

Space, the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its five-year mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no one has gone before.

The Cast and Characters:
Anson Mount as Christopher Pike
Ethan Peck as Spock
Jess Bush as Christine Chapel
Christina Chong as La’an Noonien-Singh
Celia Rose Gooding as Nyota Uhura
Melissa Navia as Erica Ortegas
Babs Olusanmokun as M’Benga

PiercingMetal Thoughts: As a rule I don’t like to comment much on the teaser clips so let me keep this stance with the simple closing of my being curious. Readers can type away to their hearts content and know that I will be lending more opinion when the full on trailer drops. Growing up I loved the original “Star Trek” series and remember watching it in syndication at a very young age in my Grandmother’s Greenpoint apartment. I’m glad its grown as much as it has and on that note I will see you next time around. Stay safe out there.
