It was a few months ago that we first discussed the topic of the latest installment in the Star Trek universe of programs with “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy” and if you missed that post you can click HERE to rectify the issue. While still a few months out from the premiere on the Paramount+ streaming service, they’ve dropped the Official Trailer which you can see down below. I’ve also added the basic premise, casting and some new art for you to enjoy. Now as Captain Kirk used to say “on screen”…

The Premise: The series is set in the 32nd century, the far-future of the Star Trek franchise where Starfleet and the United Federation of Planets are recovering from a cataclysmic event, as depicted in Star Trek: Discovery. Starfleet Academy follows the first new class of Starfleet cadets in over a century as they come of age and train to be officers. They are taught aboard the USS Athena, a starship that docks at the Starfleet Academy campus in San Francisco but can also be deployed with the rest of the fleet. (c/o Wiki)

PiercingMetal Thoughts: When I opined about the “First Look” trailer back in July, I had mused that this looked to be on the interesting side. After all, an educational facility on an actual functioning starship had wonderful potential. Now I should say that I still feel that this might be good but now it seems to be more along the lines of a “coming of age” type of show which I am not 100% works in a Star Trek series. I still don’t have an active subscription to the service based on watching the budget but I do have until this coming January to see if that changes and finds me catching up to the other shows that I wish to see. What did you folks out there in the readership think about this latest trailer. Are you sold or will you be taking a pass. What would you like to see as a new series? Chime in down below in the comments section and I will see you again soon. Cheers.
