The latest offering in the Star Trek franchise comes care of “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy” which will premiere on the Paramount+ streaming service in the new year. I’ve shared the trailer that recently premiered along with the basic premise, casting and some art down below. Enjoy.
The Premise: The series is set in the 32nd century, the far-future of the Star Trek franchise where Starfleet and the United Federation of Planets are recovering from a cataclysmic event, as depicted in Star Trek: Discovery. Starfleet Academy follows the first new class of Starfleet cadets in over a century as they come of age and train to be officers. They are taught aboard the USS Athena, a starship that docks at the Starfleet Academy campus in San Francisco but can also be deployed with the rest of the fleet. (c/o Wiki)

PiercingMetal Thoughts: Since this was a first look teaser it was longer than the ones that we usually share here and I guess that I can speak on this just a little bit. I’ll say that this looks like it could be interesting and I like the idea of all of the characters from many shows have been gone for a long time. Sure I love many of these characters but if they are still around then I feel that too much focus would be on them and prevent some new and exciting storytelling. Here’s where I say that I’d be most likely tuning in but since I am not a subscriber to the Paramount+ service I will not be tuning in. I’ve been debating signing up again since I want to see quite a few shows but right now the bills for the main things are taking away from the fun stuff. Such is life my friends right?
