While I can in no way see into the future there is one thing that I am very certain about for the upcoming 2016 year and that is that there are a lot of movies to see in your next twelve months. We’re getting an ample supply of super-hero films, a second “Independence Day” and now it seems that there is a new film for the Trekkies with “Star Trek Beyond”. Let’s take a look at the trailer below and discuss briefly.
The Premise: The USS Enterprise crew, led by Captain James T. Kirk (Chris Pine), have been attacked by a powerful unstoppable wave of unknown aliens, who destroy the Enterprise, leaving them stranded on a new planet where they find themselves in conflict with a new ruthless enemy. (thanks Wiki).

PiercingMetal Thoughts: At the first glance I am not too sure about this one and I guess because my ravenous need for nerdishness has been sated by the “Captain America: Civil War” and “Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice” trailers along with the okay at best “X-Men: Apocalypse” trailer. 2016 is going to have a LOT of films to enjoy and since this is an iconic franchise it needs to deliver. I didn’t hate “Star Trek Into Darkness” despite a few small reservations with it and I’m really enjoying this modern day cast who are great at being new versions of characters I grew up on. This clip however is just too much excess and doesn’t leave me thinking a compelling narrative will be behind it all. I also think its far too early in the new franchises adventures to apparently destroy the Enterprise. Oh well, lets see what happens when this opens up in July of 2016. What did you readers think about this one? Let me know in the comments section.
