Opening Today: “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” (5/1/2009)

They’ve been talking about a solo tale of Wolverine’s past for awhile now and here it is, the origin story that takes place before the first “X-Men” film. It stars Hugh Jackman as The Wolverine and its clear to me that he loves this role. That is fine with me.

According to the film’s Wiki entry “The plot details Wolverine’s childhood as James Howlett, his early encounters with Major William Stryker, his time with Team X, and the bonding of Wolverine’s skeleton with the indestructible metal adamantium during the Weapon X program”. That’s a whole lot of ground to cover so I am going to remain hopeful that it keeps fans interested and doesn’t breeze over points that need a little more explanation. Will you see this film? I know I will and check out the other characters that make an appearance in the movie.

Fans can check out the earlier adventures of Wolverine on the big screen by checking out the previous X-Men films and also the recently released collection of the fantastic X-Men animated series. I’ve also added in some collected editions of the “Wolverine” comic that give you a few dozen issues in each volume. I think you will like those.
