Early last month I shared the first two teaser trailers from the upcoming film “Lords Of Chaos”, which is based on the book of the same name by authors Michael Moynihan and Didrik Søderlind – The intense historical read lined out the beginnings of the Black Metal scene in Norway and focuses on bands like Mayhem, Darkthrone and Burzum. If you didn’t see the teasers please click HERE since I’ve also added some promotional art in that post that I am NOT repeating here. The full trailer came online only a couple of weeks ago and was showcased HERE. The film opens today in select theaters so you’re going to want to check your local listings to see any potential viewings near you.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: I’ve already mentioned that I didn’t get to read the “Lords Of Chaos” book but I will still hopefully see this during its theatrical run. I don’t know at the time of this posting if it will be a limited showing but it very likely will be. Obviously, based on the vastly different genres of focus, this kind of film will not reach the kind of audience that last years blockbuster hit “Bohemian Rhapsody” did. The other downside for this one is that all of the bands discussed have prohibited their music from being a part of the film so a Mayhem narrative but no Mayhem music and so on. Let’s see how that works out for them. So, what do you think? Are you going to check this out if it’s playing anywhere accessible? Chime in down below since I love hearing from you.

  1. Dark book. I visited some on the places mentioned in it in Bergen, Norway. I’m looking forward to seeing the movie. Thanks for the post. I would not have known about it.

  2. The fact that it is purely story driven is sort of cool, but without the music, or maybe just the basic noodling that goes into forming a song (that becomes an easily recognizable piece) sort of shoots its self in the foot. If it was wide release, I’d go see it just the same. ( maybe its in a local arthouse)
