This is a new one for me, but definitely a group that I found myself more curious about from the moment that I looked at them. Their brand-new video is called “Dark Rain” and well, its loaded with a mature audience sense so hide your younger ones if they startle easy and take a look. I’ll be back with some thoughts afterwards.
About The Band: Formed in the wake of brutal murder, Séance of Sorrow uses music as their medium to communicate with the mortal world. Each song provides a psychic vision to vocalist, Michael Morrison. Which reveals details of their former lives, their grieving loved ones, and their similar, tragic ends. Acting as a conduit between the realm of the living and the realm of the dead, his mournful melodies tell their story. Condemned to ‘The Black’, a place where forsaken souls with unfinished business reside, they strive to eventually write the one song that will give Michael the vision of who took their lives. Until then, SOS play their cryptic hard rock through eternal darkness. Close your eyes, open your hearts, and let the ritual begin. This is the Séance of Sorrow.
PiercingMetal Thoughts: Now as you might recall in some of our past music video features, I pretty much like to talk about the presentation more than I do the song and I’d like to keep that going with this one. So I mentioned I had only just heard about these guys and that’s true and as a fan of horror, Science Fiction and comic book coolness, I just love a band that has an identity more than your usual group might be portraying on the stage. The video for “Dark Rain” by Seance of Sorrow is surely a grim one and their visage quite shocking to behold. In the clip we see the lives of two people on the fringes of a “normal” society falling in love and sharing their passion only to have Michael be taken from her and the unnamed girl suffering and choosing to deal with the issue with alcohol and then the final solution of joining him at her own will with a firearm. While neither solution is an optimal one, the girl does reunite with Michael and in the beyond they are together. The vibe of this one is strong and I think will fit right in with the folks who like artists with a gharish and scary premise to themselves. This song was solid as well, a slow and brooding melody drowning in sadness. I look forward to hearing and seeing more from them.
