Way back in 1982, the world rallied behind Arnold Schwarzenegger when he delivered the first ever live-action “Conan The Barbarian” film. Now it’s Jason Momoa’s turn to take on the classic Robert E. Howard creation in a movie that will bear the same name. Check out the just released trailer for this film along with premise, and casting.

The Plot: Conan is the son of Corin, chief of a barbarian tribe. The youth is a skilled but violent warrior, who his father believes is not ready to wield his own sword. Their village is attacked by Khalar Zym, a warlord who wishes to reunite the pieces of the Mask of Acheron to revive his dead wife and conquer Hyboria. The Mask, crafted by a group of sorcerers and used to subjugate the world, was broken into many pieces, scattered among the barbarian tribes. After locating Corin’s piece of the mask, and murdering the entire village, Zym leaves. Conan, the only survivor, swears revenge.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: I grew up on the original film so I hold it a tad sacred even if its a bit hokey by today’s standards. We’ve been getting some great Marvel films over the last couple of years and while this property isn’t connected to those it does look action packed and I liked Momoa in “Game Of Thrones” so perhaps he will make a good Cimmerian. The film opens in August and while I am not yet sure about seeing it in the theaters early in the run, it will be on my short list. What about you readers? Did you like this one enough to mark it down on your summer movie list? Chime in down below.
