I’ve been sharing the videos and visuals from the Dark Horse Entertainment live-action series “The Umbrella Academy” so I will hope by now that you caught the Official Trailer and seen the Promotional Posters (but if you didn’t just click those italicized words and they will bring you to see it all). In the other posts I mentioned this was a new property to me, and I still have not managed to catch up. The series is now available for binge watching so have at it but don’t ruin any surprises for me okay.
The Premise: On the same day in 1989, forty-three infants are inexplicably born to random, unconnected women who showed no signs of pregnancy the day before. Seven are adopted by Sir Reginald Hargreeves, a billionaire industrialist, who creates The Umbrella Academy and prepares his “children” to save the world. But not everything went according to plan. In their teenage years, the family fractured and the team disbanded. Now, the six surviving thirty-something members reunite upon the news of Hargreeves’ passing. Luther, Diego, Allison, Klaus, Vanya and Number Five work together to solve a mystery surrounding their father’s death. But the estranged family once again begins to come apart due to their divergent personalities and abilities, not to mention the imminent threat of a global apocalypse.
The Cast/Characters:
Ellen Page as Vanya Hargreeves/The White Violin
Tom Hopper as Luther Hargreeves/Spaceboy
Robert Sheehan as Klaus Hargreeves/The Séance
Emmy Raver-Lampman as Allison Hargreeves/The Rumor
David Castañeda as Diego Hargreeves/The Kraken

PiercingMetal Thoughts: My thoughts remain the same on this so I once again state the following. As I’ve already lined out that while I greatly enjoy a lot of the Dark Horse Comics output, that I was really unfamiliar with this particular series. I’m going to need to order some of the collected editions that I found on Amazon.com for the bookshelf but will be marking this down as something to watch since the trailer looks interesting to me and I am all about supporting the comic book properties when they come to the big or small screen. I never got around to catching up on all of my Marvel Netflix shows nor “Lost In Space” which some friends in geek have recommended so this needs to wait until I get more up to speed. Trust be told I think I need a full week straight of nothing else but binge watching my programs with pizza. Of course I’d also need a treadmill in the living room so I can keep in shape after all that pizza but I digress. Will you readers be watching this series now that its available for streaming in full? Chime in down below as I’d love to hear from you.
