Having touched upon this topic a couple of times already, its my hope that readers with a vested interest in the “Star Trek” franchise are aware of the new show “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy”. The show is now available to stream on the Paramount+ service and some refresher course stuff is down below for you to examine.
The Premise: The series is set in the 32nd century, the far-future of the Star Trek franchise where Starfleet and the United Federation of Planets are recovering from a cataclysmic event, as depicted in Star Trek: Discovery. Starfleet Academy follows the first new class of Starfleet cadets in over a century as they come of age and train to be officers. They are taught aboard the USS Athena, a starship that docks at the Starfleet Academy campus in San Francisco but can also be deployed with the rest of the fleet. (c/o Wiki)

PiercingMetal Thoughts: When I last spoke about this new series in my editorial closing about the Official Trailer, which is linked to in our opening commentary, I mused that this felt more along the lines of a “Coming Of Age” story set in the Star Trek universe. Though we haven’t received any additional trailers since that last one, my thought processes are the same on it and since I still don’t subscribe to the Paramount+ streaming service, I will not be able to offer up any additional viewpoints. I am hopeful that it will be a good series because one doesn’t need to kill a franchise as strong as this one and with far too many other networks on my credit card statement I will not be able to check this out anytime soon.
