Despite the continuing restrictions and issues surrounding the Coronavirus Pandemic, we’ve been able to keep serving up some entertainment thanks to all of the shows that are returning to either your streaming service of choice or video on demand. Starting today, the third season of “Star Trek: Discovery” will begin episodically showing new chapters which means you cannot binge this one. Well, you can if you wait until its all finished but not otherwise. I’ve discussed the new season before with the Official Trailer and the Opening Scene which you can enjoy by clicking the highlighted text. Now if you subscribe you can enjoy the poster, premise of the season and the casting. I’ll close out with some editorial as well.

The Premise: Beginning roughly ten years before the events of Star Trek: The Original Series, the show sees the Klingon houses become united in a war with the United Federation of Planets that heavily involves the crew of the USS Discovery (NCC-1031). In the second season, after the war has ended, Discovery investigates seven mysterious signals and a strange figure known as the “Red Angel”. This conflict ends with the Discovery travelling to the 32nd century, more than 900 years into their future.

The Cast and Characters:
Sonequa Martin-Green as Michael Burnham
Doug Jones as Saru
Shazad Latif as Voq/Ash Tyler
Anthony Rapp as Paul Stamets
Mary Wiseman as Sylvia Tilly
Jason Isaacs as Gabriel Lorca
Wilson Cruz as Hugh Culber
Anson Mount as Christopher Pike
David Ajala as Cleveland “Book” Booker

PiercingMetal Thoughts: My closing on this one is brief since I’ve not upped my subscription to the service. Right now I need to save a little more money for the more needful things in my day. I’m close enough to being a lifelong fan of the franchise and remember watching this original show on a small black and white television in my grandmother’s kitchen in Greenpoint but I’ve too many subscriptions at the moment. Maybe if I can secure another freebie month I will wait, or when they announce another season of “Star Trek: Picard” which I really liked a lot. What about you readers? Are you subscribers to CBS All Access? If you aren’t I wonder if the new season of this show will compel you to give it a whirl. Chime in down below and I will see you next time around. Take care of yourself out there.
