Now Streaming: Marvel’s “Defenders” On Netflix (8/18/2017)

By now I am hoping that you have watched the first two seasons of “Daredevil” along with the first seasons of “Jessica Jones”, “Luke Cage” and “Iron Fist” as a subscriber to Netflix because its all been leading up to this mini-series “The Defenders” where ALL of these mighty heroes and numerous players from across their respective shows will appear and unite against a common foe. If you have only recently subscribed to Netflix, then you have some serious binge watching to do and I recommend you keep these shows in order since much like the big screen hero counterparts, this does take place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and there is referencing throughout the shows. Take a look at the official poster and the premise and casting below.

The Premise: Set a few months after the events of the second season of Daredevil, and a month after the events of Iron Fist, the vigilantes Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist team up in New York City to fight a common enemy in The Hand. (thanks Wiki).

Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil
Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones

Simone Missick as Misty Knight
Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page

PiercingMetal Thoughts: Now I will admit to enjoying all of the Netflix series and some a bit more than the other based on the hero that is being showcased but like many who have watched, felt that each of these series could have chopped off an episode or two since it eliminated some of the dead space we get. I think that “Daredevil” was my favorite so far and I liked what they did with Power Man I mean “Luke Cage” and “Iron Fist”. Not sure why so many people complained about “Iron Fist” because I watched it straight through over the course of a couple of weeks. I didn’t have the time to binge it all in one long sitting and felt that while a couple of moments were “meh” to me that the show was still on point. I would have preferred the series being called “Heroes For Hire” as opposed to “Defenders” but its still nice to see these grounded characters getting their moment in the sun. This series will run only eight episodes so you industrious viewers can finish it in a half a day if you set your mind to it. I loved the trailers that were showcased and am enjoying the recently launched comic series. The first issue has gone back for a second printing which is pretty cool to find happening so early in a titles run. The only downside is the question on whether any other shows will be presented on Netflix since Disney recently announced its own streaming service is coming. Alright, so what do you readers think? Will you be watching “Defenders”? Let me know down in the comments section below.
