The Announcement:
After 26 years on the international Metal scene, the members of Tristania have this week taken the heavy decision to call it a day. This means that future plans, including the scheduled Latin America Tour in December, have been cancelled.
Struggling through some truly challenging years, like the rest of the world, we have been eager to finally look ahead with the Latin America Tour being the next big thing for us.
Last week came the news about a serious medical situation in near family withing the band, which will make it impossible to pursure both short and long term plans with the band. This came as a shock to us and we are truly sorry to share this.
Tristania is a band that has never made compromises in our art, and it has never been an option for us to present anything not 100 percent to our fans and followers. The timing of this could not have been worse, and it is especially sad for us not to be able to meet our friends in Latin America again. We have always had a special relationshop to our Latin American fans.
Our sincere apologies to everyone that will be affected by our decision.
We want to thank everyone we have worked together with for almost three decades of writing music, recording, releasing and touring, but especially we would like to give an extra heartful thank you to Continental Concerts that has stood by us in thick and thin through a significant part of the band’s career.
Last, but not least, we would like to thank our loyal fans all over the world for amazing experiences through the years. Without you, we would not have had the inspiration to continue for so many years.
It has been an eventful 26 years. Now, let us all cherish the memories.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: Sigh. It’s without question that this kind of news bums me out and especially when its coming from a band with such a lengthy tenure and catalog. Truth be told while I really enjoyed the musical output of Tristania, I wasn’t always able to rally behind them since I lost a bit of track of them. I don’t recall their ever coming to the states for any touring and back in the early days of this website, we always loved that the now shuttered B.B. King Blues Club would bring bands like this to our NYC stage. If they made it here the news escaped me because believe it or not, knowing every movement a band made in the formative years of Facebook was not commonplace. One of the things I liked about this band was the brooding heaviness and think that more folks on this side of the pond should have screamed for them to get here from the promoters. I’ve listed all the members that I researched having been participants in their sound so the people sitting on the keyboard can do some digging and keep on supporting whatever musical ideas come next. This pandemic time really impacted a lot of bands and was the catalyst in decisions of this kind. I fear that we shall hear this kind of news from other groups as well since the financials and ability to move as freely as they used to just isn’t there and the accrued debts just too difficult to get past easily. Thank you Tristania for the years of entertainment, I will be digging deep into the catalog and especially for the stuff that I missed out on. We wish all of your past and present membership roster the very best on whatever is coming next. Readers who’ve enjoyed this band are encouraged to chime in down below with their own thoughts. See you next time, please stay safe out there.
