Hey there my friends, I hope this latest update to the content of PiercingMetal’s Pop Culture section finds you and yours well and most important of all – healthy. We are surely in some trying times based on the Coronavirus and with many of us doing self-quarantine, its been streaming services like Netflix that are giving us some aspect of peace of mind. So the Dark Horse Comics series “The Umbrella Academy” was given the green light for a second season and just in case you are new to the topic it is the creation of Gerard Way who is the singer and a founding member of My Chemical Romance. The second season will stream in full on July 31st and now we have a trailer to enjoy so let’s take a look. I copied the premise from the original posts since I didn’t see an updated one and the cast is listed down below as well.
The Premise: On the same day in 1989, forty-three infants are inexplicably born to random, unconnected women who showed no signs of pregnancy the day before. Seven are adopted by Sir Reginald Hargreeves, a billionaire industrialist, who creates The Umbrella Academy and prepares his “children” to save the world. But not everything went according to plan. In their teenage years, the family fractured and the team disbanded. Now, the six surviving thirty-something members reunite upon the news of Hargreeves’ passing. Luther, Diego, Allison, Klaus, Vanya and Number Five work together to solve a mystery surrounding their father’s death. But the estranged family once again begins to come apart due to their divergent personalities and abilities, not to mention the imminent threat of a global apocalypse.
Ellen Page as Vanya Hargreeves/The White Violin
Tom Hopper as Luther Hargreeves/Spaceboy
Robert Sheehan as Klaus Hargreeves/The Séance
Emmy Raver-Lampman as Allison Hargreeves/The Rumor
David Castañeda as Diego Hargreeves/The Kraken
Aidan Gallagher as Number Five/The Boy
Mary J. Blige as Cha-Cha
Cameron Britton as Hazel
Colm Feore as Sir Reginald Hargreeves/The Monocle
Adam Godley as Pogo
John Magaro as Leonard Peabody
Ashley Madekwe as Detective Patch
Kate Walsh as The Handler
PiercingMetal Thoughts: So I didn’t actually watch the trailer that I presented up above for you all because I didn’t see the first season and I don’t want to risk anything spoiling my chance to get caught up during this insane pandemic. When this all started, my DVR was at 98% and now it’s down to about 10% so I can indulge in some of these awesome Netflix binging sessions. I really risked losing my geek license from all the backlog but when one normally attended 3 or 4 concerts each week, one is not home to watch television and do more than sleep to recover from the previous evenings adventure. If you liked the trailer you can chime in down below of course and that brings me to the end of this little summary. Be careful out there and mind the regulations for your respective area. I want everyone who reads our words to be safe. See you next time.
