Music Luminaries Share Their New Year’s Metal Resolutions for 2012: Part 1

new year's music resolutions

With Christmas now out of the way and Chanukah pretty close to ending as well our minds gets focused on the plans for the coming new year. We seem to always strive to change something in ourselves or do things a little differently from before when a new year begins and this got me to thinking a little bit. I wondered aloud about what the New Years Metal Resolutions for 2012 might be for some of the talented people that I have been fortunate enough to meet or communicate with in my role as founder of the PiercingMetal.com website. With that in mind I put the question out there and asked them to complete the sentence “My New Year’s Metal Resolution for 2012 Is….”

The first few responses are below and I’ll be adding a new post each day as 2011 counts down toward its close. I hope you enjoy them.

Carmine Appice (legendary drummer of Cactus, Vanilla Fudge, King Kobra, Blue Murder (whew…): My New Year’s Musical Resolution for 2012 Is to play with an even wider variety of artists and musicians.

Zak Stevens (lead vocals for Circle II Circle): My New Year’s Metal Resolution is to bring my music to as many fans in the world as possible this year. This is one of those “be careful what you asked for” years….Even though the task is daunting, it’s time to bring things to a new level in 2012! Horns up and pierce the world with metal!!

Brian Tatler (lead guitar for Diamondhead): My New Years Metal Resolution is… to keep looking out for new and interesting bands and to keep the Diamond Head flag flying for as long as possible. Thanks.

Alan Tecchio (lead vocals for Hades/Seven Witches): My New Year’s 2012 Metal Resolution is firstly to focus on my new career in restaurant/tavern/catering real estate sales. Musically, I will be pretty busy as well and hope to fulfill my obligations to a number of projects. They include a new Seven Witches CD, resuming writing/recording with my band Autumn Hour, finishing vocals on the Hungarian “Minds Mirrors” project I have been doing for a couple of years now with guitarist Daniel Szabo and if the Watchtower guys ever get their act together, I would love to finish the vocals on their Mathematics cd as well. That last one is a long shot but ya never know… I wish all the best for the Metal faithful out there. I just played 3 shows with Seven Witches opening for Armored Saint and it was awesome to see the fans as feverish as ever! I hope 2012 is a phenomenal year for everyone!

Jyrki 69 (vocals for The 69 Eyes: My New Year’s Metal Resolution Is…Not to show the devil sign in photos in 2012!

Mike Festa (drums for The Nightmare Stage/Magus Beast): For 2012, I hope to wrap up the Magus Beast CD and secure some more gigs with national acts. The year starts off well for us as we are playing with our friends Virgin Steele Jan 14th at Ollies Point and also Ross The Boss will be joining Magus Beast on stage Feb 25th at the Red River Inn. The Nightmare Stage will resume writing CD #2 and looking for gigs. I also hope to keep moving forward with my sound company Pro Sound Rentals, last year I did a few national acts and hope to do more as well!

Nigel Rojas (vocals/guitar for Orange Sky): So my/our New Year Resolution is to never give up and to re-new our commitment to Metal and Rock and music ,and to enjoy the journey that this is ,instead of too much focusing on goals and achievements and deadlines to reach them….this journey, this lifestyle is the nectar, music is the greatest gift.

Tony Kakko (vocals for Sonata Arctica): My New Year’s Metal Resolution… Is to make my big, long time dream come true. What that is, you´ll find out the day it comes true. 😉

Lanvall (keyboards for Edenbridge): My New Year’s Music Resolution is to make the best Edenbridge album in our career (which is already in the pipeline).

Syriak (vocals/guitar for Unexpect): I guess that having another Unexpect album ready in less than 5 years from now would be a good resolution [;)]
All the best for 2012 and hope to see you in NYC in a near future !
