On June 5th, Mercyful Fate will release CD and LP versions of the classic albums “Don’t Break the Oath”, “Melissa”, and “Mercyful Fate” via Metal Blade Records. The vinyl editions feature spined sleeves with an insert and download card; the CDs contain a mini-LP CD-insert with a small fold-out poster.

King Diamond comments, “These are not remasters. These are the albums as they were originally done in the old days from the original production masters. They retain all the original dynamics that were captured at the time. It’s very exciting to present these to fans as they were originally released.”

PiercingMetal Thoughts: This is great news to see coming to pass and as some of you might remember, Metal Blade Records recently released a number of King Diamond’s solo efforts on both LP and remastered CD as well (seen HERE) and this new announcement let’s you build the complete history in your music library. Though I’ve been listening to the classic band for decades now, I still admit that I was once a latecomer and I think that I only ever owned “Melissa” on CD and not the others. Back in the day I think my friend put them on a Maxell cassette tape for me since I had a boom box for the park hangs. That was an activity eons ago my younger readers, in a much simpler time.
