After a five plus hour live-streaming event which from what I was told consisted of mostly looking at chairs, the folks at Marvel Studios have officially announced some of the casting and that production has officially begun on the upcoming epic “Avengers: Doomsday”. A shortened clip is embedded below for your consumption and the revealed casting so far is below but not much else was disclosed. I’ll return at the close with some editorial rumblings.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: Before I get into some of the deeper thoughts about the upcoming “Avengers: Doomsday” film, I will point out that I am not at all happy about RDJ being cast in the role of Victor Von Doom/Doctor Doom. Now mind you I love his work in the Marvel Studios films and as Tony Stark/Iron Man but if they end up making him some kind of multiverse variant of Doom where Stark never became Iron Man and instead became Doom I will say GTFOOH. Doom is Doom and is mortal enemies of the Fantastic Four and then the rest of the Marvel Universe heroes and that is that. My colleague always chides me on the films not being specifically directed at the comic book purists and that is why expansions and changes happen. I’ve long felt that Mads Mikkelsen would be a perfect Doctor Doom. So onto the rest of this, right now there is no real premise or synopsis but you know its all heading towards the “Secret Wars” stuff which I am sure will be exciting. As you can see by the massive and still only partial casting, there are characters from the X-Men films that initially came from 20th Century Fox and are now thankfully back in the hands of Marvel unlike Spider-Man which is still controlled by Sony Pictures. I will keep my opinions silent on that since those last films from the studio have been so dreadful. Closing up I envision this film being even longer than “Avengers: Endgame” and I will for sure see it very early in the theatrical release when that comes to pass and more importantly, I will also be keeping as much of the information I find being released shared here on the Pop Culture section of PiercingMetal to keep that part of the site growing and growing.
