The news about this next set of variant covers hit the media a couple of months ago but I am generally of the mindset that readers don’t remember much about the day before yesterday nowadays much less an announcement from months ago based on all the constant stimulation from the social networks. With comic book stuff like this I’ve found it beneficial to do them as reminders so you can hit the shop a few weeks before and make sure special editions are added to your pull list. That said this next batch features a time honored part of the comic book cover as beautifully rendered by the great Joe Jusko. Check it out.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: I just love the artwork of Joe Jusko and remember fondly when they issued a series of trading cards that featured his artwork. It was called the “Marvel Masterpiece Collection” and like many of the collectors of a certain time period, I have several complete sets of these cards secured away in a box in one of my closets. I should dig them out for a post on this site or maybe even as a reflection for my “The Chronicles Of Piercing Ken” site. Hmmm, stay tuned for my final decision on that. The original press copy only featured “8” of the covers but I was able to secure some additional images but sadly not the complete bunch. I’d love for the press side to give us all of these kind of covers since having a visual makes shopping and completing ones collection all the more easier. What do you think about these new variants? Will you be picking up some of the issues? Which ones speak to you the loudest and why? You can let me know down in the comments section below. Now if you will excuse me I have some trading cards to find.
