Welcome to our Merry Month of March and it looks to be a Marvelous one for sure (cough, cough) and I apologize for the poor attempt at witticism. I’ll keep it light for the duration but for the newbies to the mix you have landed on our presentation of the first issue solicitations that will be hitting the stands from Marvel Comics along with some other items that I feel are quite interesting (trades, ending series notes etc.). As usual the press copy and art come from the fine publicity team at Marvel and then I will close it out with some views of my own. Here we go.

Something BIG wants to destroy New Attilan. The fact that New Attilan is in the Hudson River puts Manhattan and Spider-Man right in its crosshairs! Jeff Loveness (The Jimmy Kimmel Show, DEATH OF WOLVERINE: LOGAN’S LEGACY) pens all three chapters with tremendous artists like Luca Pizzari and connecting variants by super star ADAM KUBERT!

Howard The Duck: HOT off the pages of the … the post-credits scene at the … the end of a … popular movie … HOWARD THE DUCK is back! Join him as he takes on the weird cases that only a talking duck can crack as the Marvel Universe’s resident private investigator! Let Sex Criminals’ CHIP ZDARSKY (a writer known mostly as an artist) and JOE QUINONES (an artist known mostly as a lover) guide you through his new world as he takes on THE BLACK CAT and MYSTERIOUS FORCES FROM OUTER SPACE! WAUGH!

Princess Leia: When Princess Leia Organa was captured by the Empire as a Rebel spy, she never betrayed her convictions, even in the face of the complete destruction of her home world, Alderaan. When her rescue came, she grabbed a blaster and joined the fight, escaping back to the Rebel Alliance and helping strike the biggest blow against the Empire—the destruction of the Death Star. Nova Annual #1: Nova turns to DOC GREEN, THE INCREDIBLE HULK for help with his busted helmet! Their quest takes them halfway across the universe and puts them in danger that even the Hulk can’t punch out of! Written by Gerry Duggan with art by Jerry Baldeon.

There are also some really awesome trade editions hitting the stands in March and I have added the ones that I like the most into this narrative, check it out.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: For me the highlights fall the most to the Amazing Spider-Man Special since its aimed at The Inhumans mythology and that is going to be one of the upcoming films from Marvel Studios in the next couple of years. We’ve also been getting a dose of their influence on the ABC program “Agents Of SHIELD” so it has me interested. I am also wondering what this new Howard The Duck will be like because the first go round tales were just so different and on the ground breaking side. Marvel Studios did tease us with a quick visual of Howard as they referenced above but I am not sure about him doing this private dick stuff. I might wait for a graphic novel of several issues before digging into this one to be quite honest. Now speaking of graphic novels, I am super excited about this one that collects the complete “Super-Villain Team-Up” title and its related stories. I loved this book and am pretty sure that I still have all of the individual issues stocked away in one of my long boxes. What do you readers think about these offerings?
