The second Official Trailer for the sequel to “Pacific Rim” came to light just a short time go and with a hefty plate ahead of us here at the Media Command HQ I said let’s get this right out to the readership. For those new to the program, this sequel is called “Pacific Rim: Uprising” and you it takes place many years after the original film. Let’s take a look shall we.
The Premise: It has been ten years since the Battle of the Breach and the oceans are still, but restless. Vindicated by the victory at the Breach, the Jaeger program has evolved into the most powerful global defense force in human history. The PPDC now calls upon the best and brightest to rise up and become the next generation of heroes when the Kaiju threat returns. Thrust into this is ex-Jaeger pilot Jake Pentecost, son of the late Stacker Pentecost, who is given a chance by his adopted sister, Mako Mori, to unite with the world and fellow Jaeger pilots to prevent humanity’s extinction. PiercingMetal Thoughts: My thoughts on the second trailer pretty much mirror my first where I said something to the effect of “As you can see this looks like a lot of the same that we saw in the first film”. Yes there are new Kaiju to fend off and brand-new shiny Jaegers so perhaps it will work out. My biggest qualm with the first film was the embattled human characters and the romance stuff. Since there are several female characters observed in the trailer I have a feeling we are going to get more romance stuff whether we like it or not. Oh well. Let’s hope its brief and that the rest is robots fighting monsters over and over. Actually with this one we even seem to be getting robots fighting robots which can be super cool if they have worked out a solid story. Will you see the film when it comes out in March? Let me know down in the comments section below. I will very likely hit the matinee in my neighborhood since its so accomodating in price and location. It also doesn’t bother you too much afterwards if the film sucks which I hope it doesn’t.
