No you weren’t imagining things. You did indeed see a cameo by the legendary Judas Priest on last nights episode of “The Simpsons”.
I figured that with all of our comic book and animated feature postings here on the blog in addition to all that there Metal stuff I opine about on a daily basis that I should be acknowledging this little tidbit even if only for a moment. Did you see the episode at all? I don’t want to spoil too much about it but they appear for a hot minute and are referred to as a “Death Metal” band. That much surprised me since they are one of the founding forces of the Traditional Metal form and not a Death Metal band at all but I guess putting Cannibal Corpse or Behemoth on the show would have scared off viewers as much as it would leave many saying “who is this anyway”. The episode was a fun one and about piracy. Check it out on your On Demand capabilities when time allows. I’ve been a fan of The Simpsons for decades now and even longer for the mighty Judas Priest so it was a lot of fun seeing them presented on the show in any fashion.
Over the course of the series, Metal and Rock have been given some fun support and while I might be missing more than a few, the notable ones to our readers would be Metallica, Aerosmith, The Ramones, Smashing Pumpkins, Green Day, The Who, The Beatles, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Spinal Tap. Whew. That is quite a list and I only hope we see KISS on their someday as well.
