Hey there my fine-feathered comic collecting friends, today is the “Free Comic Book Day” for 2023 and as you know this is celebrated on the first Saturday in May at participating comic book shops. Readers of the PiercingMetal Pop Culture features know full well how supportive we are of the comic book industry and if you are hearing this for the first time for some reason just check out the run of posts found HERE.

PiercingMetal’s Media HQ loves “Free Comic Book Day” for a number of reasons and quite honestly it’s not only because of being able to get a stack of free comic books. One of the things that I like the most is that it allows the curious and the younger reader to investigate collecting a little bit more and hopefully find some titles that they are interested in supporting going forward. Maybe your older relative collects and its something you can do together. The possibilities are bountiful. You can peruse the Official FCBD at the close to see what’s out there but the reason I’ve posted so early is for you to get a move on so you don’t miss out. The more popular and trafficked the shop, the faster the provisions will run out. Important: Remember that while “Free Comic Book Day” is free for you, it’s not free for the comic book shop and they pay for all of these awesome titles. The best way to give back is by you purchasing some of the new titles off the racks, a collected edition or two and maybe even some action figures and Funko Pops. If you have trouble deciding you can always just purchase the necessary supplies for your own collection with backing boards and plastic sleeves.
